The VW Heritage Santa Cruise 4th December.

Those of you who have had or own now a old VW will know the name VW Heritage. Based in Burgess Hill they supply a large range of parts for old VW Beatles and Transporters. The staff there are very keen VW enthusiast and hold regular meetings and cruises at VW Heritage in Burgess Hill.

The meeting is the Day after our Horsham Meeting and as it is not that far from Horsham I thought some members may like to take part as is looks fun and is very much in the Christmas Spirit.

After the success and the fun of last year’s event VW Heritage are organising another Santa Cruise. If the idea of dressing as Father Christmas and going for a leisurely drive in the company of other festive folk sounds likes fun, then this is definitely for you!

This year the chosen charity and destination for the Santa Cruise is the Chestnut Tree House, located just outside of Worthing in West Sussex. Chestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice in the area and offers specialist palliative care to children and young people suffering from life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, making it very unlikely for the children to make it to adulthood. The hospice also provides care and support for the whole family, offering psychological support, care following bereavement, end of life and respite care and sibling support.

Currently they care for approximately 225 children, and 80 bereaved families, and all of this care is provided free of charge. It costs £2.5 million a year to run all of their services and they only receive just 9% of this in funding from the government, leaving 91 pence of every pound spent to come in from donations. We are hoping to help out as much as we can by running this year’s Santa Cruise.

Unlike last year’s event which was Volkswagens only, we are opening the doors for other makes and models of classic car to participate too.

The cruise itself will leave from VW Heritage in Burgess Hill at 1pm and take a relaxed pace, allowing for cars of all ages. Mince pies and hot drinks will await those who take part, along with some of the children staying on site that weekend too.

For additional information on this years chosen charity, please take a look at their website. www.chesnut-tree-house.org.uk

If you wish to participate it will cost you £10 per car- this provides the driver with one Santa Suit and a £5 donation to the Chestnut tree house. For passengers, additional adult Santa outfits can be purchased for a cost price of £5 if required. In order to register please email social@vwheritage.com with your name and suit requirements (if you don’t register we may run out of suits!) payment will be taken on the day in cash, then made to the charity as a single payment.

Although Calikev will not be able to make the Santa Cruise on Sunday he is very kindly giving me a donation on Saturday at the Horsham Meeting for Chestnut Tree House.

I am happy to take any other donations for Chestnut Tree House on Saturday from members who are attending the Horsham Meeting who cant make the Santa Cruise on Sunday.

Kind RGS John

Just got back from the Santa cruise. Fantastic turn out with some lovely old VW bugs and buses. Made to feel very welcome for a great fun day out for a worthy cause.

I would like to thank Calikev and Californiaman for their kind donations that I pasted on to VW Heritage today for the Chestnut Tree House.
