Hi there

i am just wondering what everyone does when they are “staying indoors” due to weather or simpley not fancying going out?
I love reading and writting but I need to think of a few other things to do when hubby is out cycling. I have walking difficulties so won’t be able to go too far on my own.
thanks in advance x

Hi there @MrsDarcy, This forum could keep you busy :) :)

I grew up on caravan holidays. I confess that I hated a lot of them. But some good memories are playing cards around the table in the evening. And all lying in bed listening to radio 4 sat night stories with the rain hammering on the roof...
These days there are so many options for listening to pod casts, books, etc.
And there are many more games available (as well as cards for patience, I carry Yahtzee, Pigs, Crib(bage) and a few others). Also the knitting, etc.

So for a second reply. For me, when away, it’s about not doing all the things I could, should, would do if I was at home. I can’t do them as away, so should not worry about them. And then taking some time to do other things.

If when you are alone/the list is endless:
1. Solving Puzzles. Paper or online. if you have an iPad or similar, it opens up a vista of Puzzles
2. Stitching/wool stitching/creating figurines if you fancy that. You can also setup a shop on the likes of etsy to make and sell.
3. Wood Fettling - this is my go to thing
4. Painting
5. Blogging online - if you want to be a story teller.
6. Planning the next trip - this is another one of my favourite pastimes :)

If you tell us something that interests you, then I am sure people on here will be able to inform you more. The list above is from what I have heard people on here do ... and that is how I got into fettling.

I've spent the whole weekend cleaning out the van, washing, polishing and waxing...o_O
That is Sad
seriously here in Essex it’s been raining on and off all weekend while I have been trying to paint the outside of the house !

A pack of cards with David Parlett’s Penguin Book of Card Games and his Penguin Book of Patience. The first with friends the second on your own!

I never go anywhere without my Martin Backpacker Guitar. There is always room to squeeze it in the van. If learning the guitar is too daunting, a ukulele is portable, fun, easy to learn to play and will make you many new friends as you strum and sing along to those pop classics.

The pockets in the backs of the front seats are perfect for little paperback books full of sudokus and crosswords. Can become an obsession though! Being really nosey and having tinted windows is good too - you can just sit and watch everyone else on a campsite without them knowing! Doesn't work in the dark though!
