Top Gear without Evans

You didn't need the "Top Gear" part at the beginning !!

Didn't watch it with Chris Evans but caught the show last night. IMO they were trying too hard to be funny and mimic Clarkson, Hammond etc. Not great.

I think the BBC should stop trying to rehash the old format and start a fresh. It's not working for me!

Will work fine once they all stop trying so hard. Chris Harris is the cornerstone, as he was always going to be. The problem is the rest of those involved only seem to have a passing interest in cars, whereas the previous trio were both passionate and knowledgeable.

Any sort of motoring programme where the cars are the subject rather than the presenters is good for me. Well rid of the lot of them IMVHO

I always liked Chris Harris on hid own shows but he is different now, too scripted. I think new Top Gear should try to be a bit more serious.

Twenty minutes into episode 2 and I'm tempted to switch over to Call The Midwife.

I watched, well tried to stay awake through an episode the other night. My first with the new line up since Clarkson got the boot.

Are they all like that? If that episode is a typical example of the new format then IMO Top Gear is dead and the best thing that the BBC can do is bury it and quickly because it stinks. Such was the soporific effect it had on me that I would now have trouble recalling much of the content.

I enjoyed the old Top Gear for it's blend of sheer childish buffoonery and dare I say it, the often refreshingly un-PC commentary. For me it was never really that much about the cars. If you excuse the pun, they were merely a vehicle for their prating about. For me it was about the chemistry between the three of them and what stupid schoolboy antics they were going to get up to next. Messieurs Clarkson, May and Hammond were entertaining.

The new line up may well improve with time but after what little I have seen of them, I some how doubt it. There was no spark. It was dull, dull, dull.

Sorry, just my opinion.

What's the feeling on the latest incarnation of Top Gear?
Based on last nights I'm glad I record it and can fast forward, reckon I view less than half of the show.

I've always viewed Top Gear as primarily an entertainment show with the emphasis on clowning about in cars. IMO Clarkson and chum's non PC approach was very entertaining. I haven't watched TG much since their days but on the odd occasion I have I disliked the last lots lack luster approach especially the wooden one from across the pond. Having watched last nights show I think there is a glimmer of chemistry there that might work well. The banter from AFF and PM was quite amusing at times. It's just a shame that they have done nothing to change the tired format of TG.

What’s people's thoughts on the current trio.
I’m quite liking them. Always liked Harris and Flint-off reminds me of one of my good friends. Massive balls, complete liability.

But all in all. I’m finding it very entertaining.
I enjoyed the electric cars and caravans segment last night.

I always liked Chris Harris before his time on top gear. My dream was to have him make more TV shows so he coming there was a good thing. The two others, they are not as bad as the guys in the first series after Clarkson left, which I skipped (and I have seen all episodes other than them), but not very interesting either.

Yeah - prefer them to Clarkson and Hammond, though I quite liked May. Harris has more car credibility, and Flintoff and McGuinness are funnier naturally. Will have to get the latest episode on...

I think the original trio had their time and jumped ship at the sweet spot.
I think Clarksons finest hour has been The Farm.

Was LMAO watching it but was on the receiving end tonight. Ending up going for the milk to prevent the unstoppable hiccuping. Didnt work for me but mayonnaise did the trick.

Top Gear presenters or us posters?;)

It was bad enough with that Evans bloke, constantly giggling and screaming like a 9 year old schoolgirl on Helium, but these three with their cackling squeals and juvenile "pranks" come over as a bunch of privileged tossers playing with daddy's fast cars.......

Just my view of course.

It worked with Clarkson, Hammond and May because then it was the time and the place and of course the Clarkson but now it is just so dated. All four need to grow up: the three presenters and the programme format.

@GrannyJen
There’s always Fifth Gear for the grown-ups.
