Hi. Thanks for accepting this newbie in the group.

Just waiting for delivery of our new Cali Ocean, from Germany, and there isn’t a tow bar fitted. Having looked on some old threads it may be that the electrics are already in place - or maybe not! Any ideas how to check this out?

I’m concerned that any retro fit doesn’t invalidate the VW warranty and equally that the fitter will do it correctly.

As an aside the dealer is quoting £1850 , a lot lot more than the local Westfalia fitter,

If you spec'd for the towbar preparation, the electrics will be in place. If not, they wont be.

Most after market fitters won’t use the towbar prep even if it’s present, and there won’t be a cost benefit; they’ll just fit a vehicle specific loom and code to the vehicle. Cost should be £7-800 based on what I was quoted when factory fit towbars were in limited supply. A competent fitter shouldn’t cause any problems - again from research a little while ago you’ll find that dealers use a third party fitter anyway, track down who that is local to you and you’ll save a packet for the same job.
