Towing electrics

I have just bought a tie ball bike rack with lighting board. When electrics are plugged in the brake lights are permanently on.
It's the old style plug of course being a genuine Westy LHD.

It should be 13 pin plug/Skt.

All I can suggest is Google for a13pin wiring diagram then check the pin connections.
Sounds like the stop lights are wired to the perm live.

the van has 7 pin socket though

apparently worked fine on a previous car

Apparently.

Check both your 7 pin and the lighting board. There is an error somewhere.
