Toyota alphard help

Hi all
I'm hoping someone on this vast community of experience will be able to help, i have a Cali myself but a friend of mine has a Toyota alphard 2.4 auto which keeps going into limp mode, engine light coming on, been to 4 different garages and no one can seem to sort it, they are willing to travel if anyone knows of a Toyota specialist or a good old school garage, my friend Lives in Harrogate, any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated, I know it is a bit vague but that's all I have, hopefully someone will help
