Stood in the rain watching my kids football thinking I should keep an umbrella in my beach (or maybe even two)

Anything clever I should be thinking of?

I assume you could keep them in with the chairs? Be keen then don’t tumble out though.

I keep ours (when dry) in the boot on top of the multiplex shelf.

Behind the outdoor table in the sliding door there’s a shallow recess with 2 elastic bungees. We keep a big one in there and 2 small telescopic umbrellas in the front door pockets.
Oh, like this.

Bit of a pain to retrieve quickly but good backup to the small ones.

+ da_murphster good question

My umbrellas have been stored in various positions, they are in a long bag along with the winding handle and a walking stick with a top that converts to a monopole for my camera:
-on the floor
-behind the passenger seat upright held with elastic ties,
-balanced on the edge by the window
-in the rear

Never found an ideal place as where ever they are they are never in the right place when it rains or just get in the way. Mine are full size ones with a curved handle which I find useful as a way to pull down the rear door when I can not reach it.

If wet the best place seems to be the floor.

Yeah, I’ve never yet found a decent place for the awning handle!

I tuck it below the bed slats but it’s a bit loose there.

I’m going to look at putting the handle and a full size brolly behind the table. Wondering if the window blinds would also fit in there.

Missed trick by vw, with a little tweak you could improve the rear door storage to hold all these things.

Make up a cotton bag with a zip on the end, stow the handle, pegs and hold down plates for the awning in between one of the tailgate chairs (handle end needs to be folded)

Have you got a picture of this?

here you go

It's slightly quilted to add a bit of padding

I didn't take a photo of it in between one of the chairs, presume you don't need to see that

If it’s a long style umbrella, I suggest storing between the trim and multiflex legs.

This is where we store our awning handle a see photo.

As a ‘belt and braces’, I added some 3M paint protection film to the multiflex legs to avoid any paint wear over time.

We use several totally collapsible umbrellas and they tuck in anywhere you want. The most robust one was bought from M&S nearly 20 years ago and has a beautiful wooden handle. We have a good VW and a good Nike golf umbrella but they seem to be kept (mostly unused) in my wife's BMer.

I highly recommend this one (cheaper on Amazon)
Or this if you want a mini one. Had both of these many years, have been faultless.

We’ve got awning handle hooks inside the under bench drawer, don’t you?

A large Golfing umbrella stored under the multiflex board with the awning handle on handle clips bought from the middle of lidl

I keep a small umbrella above the glove box in the front, but I have a large umbrella that's resting on top of the folded comfort mattress behind the bench seat. I just have to release and bring the bench seat-back forward a bit to reach it:

The awning crank slides perfectly alongside the bench from the back:

Beaches with 2 sliding doors and a full width bench have three smaller drawers under each seat (I believe only 22cm wide each).
