I'm looking at replacing my original radio with a Alpine CDEw238R, which I took out of a previous car I owned. It looks like it will fit but how straightforward is it to do the change. I can see looking at YouTube I'd need 4 keys to fit into the original radio to unlock it. How easy are they to pick up?

Alpine also do specific wiring adapter looms depending on your alpine model, I can't find CDEw238R though

I tried to change a 2006 model - you will need extra looms for aerial, dab, etc. In fact I gave up and ploughed on with original as it wasn’t as straight forward as I thought!
But I did upgrade my T5.1 and that was easy enough to do with another VW branded media console.

Wiring looms available here:

You may need a double din frame as well

Thanks for the information. I've ordered the adapter.
