Vet bill

Zebedee is self insured too, 11 yrs at £500 yr
So he’s got a £6k budget now (joke) but that’s how much I would of spent on insurance at least.

He was only £350 and was reserved for by a very young couple who changed there mines and lost there £50 deposit as he was supposed to be £400.

Our (usually extortionate) vet charges £16.60 a month for the health club which covers the flea treatment, worming, boosters and up to 4 basic consultations a year. As the consultations covers squeezing the anal glands ( the dogs before anyone asks) I think its worth every penny.
It also gets us 20% discount on the special prescription diet.

We calculated the vets bills so far have been just under £12k in three years. Sainsbury's pet insurance have paid out £11k of that and had a premium of £18/month from us. Its the only insurance policy that I have ever really benefitted from having.
I have the same monthly payment for 2 GSDs at Pets at home . Very good customer service and saves money.

We do too. Always makes me puzzle that my 120mph 3 tonne camper van is half the price to insure of my 8kg c 15mph fox terrier.

Boxers seem to be a tad more expensive to insure. I've had quotes of a £1000 and 20% excess and no age related conditions...... hence I stopped.

Teddie is circa £700 a year and never claimed. Had a tooth removed. Not covered. Hence we might self insure him too this coming year as they normally jump in premiums at around 8yrs old.

We started self insuring about 12years ago and the dog's nest egg is currently around the £20k mark (no joke).

It’s high time the public rose up and said an emphatic “No” to being ripped off by the vet profession. Of course, when your own ‘beloved’ is sick… well, that’s where they have you.

I find with specialist or referral vets they always ask who the insurance is with, and, miraculously the cost of treatment matches the max allowed on the policy .

But look what our pets give us in return - unconditional love, friendship and companionship. Worth every penny in my book.
