You’ll need a decent set of ramps if you’re camping there! :D

Here is the reason why I'm in the Cali on the drive while Mrs, daughter and dog lord it in the downstairs bedroom.
A good view of the stars but the dust and cold upstairs is too much despite the beautiful late September weather.
Builders faces blanked out otherwise they could both be put behind different bars for offensive legs :D

Looks like the winter tyres were a good plan

Mike
Yep mike . Was going to leave Goodyear Vecors on . But snow came early. About 3 deg during day and well below at night . Dunlop Winter Sports performing well . Definitely glad we have 4 motion .

Gotta gotta go there Skewif. Could you give a couple of specific locations? (and links to suitable mapping?).

Best to read this before considering the place in my last post. https://www.dangerousroads.org/europe/france/8294-col-del-sommeiller.html
The track up to Sommeiller is long, rough with such steep and tight switchbacks often you’re on only 3 wheels. High probability of doing harm to a std Cali. For more info on most of the places in the pics check out https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/threads/love-wild-camping-go-italian-alps.21430/. Happy to answer questions about places to go with relatively easy access on that thread.

Did that with a Landrover and roof tent a few years back in July and there was still snow/ice at the top, thought vehicles had been banned from driving up there /

Think there is snow at the top all year, the dog loved it. Sign on way up said just closed to motors on certain days of the week. I came back down very early on Saturday as cloud coming down and saw dozens of 4x4’s and off road motorbikes heading up there... no Cali’s strangely. A sense of achievement getting up to that altitude but better views from lesser heights IMO.

Good stuff, dont think I would fancy it with my Cali ! like you say the scenery is possibly better on the drive up, we camped lower down if I remember correctly somewhere between 3 and 4 thousand feet. and it was still freezing overnight.
