We all have our trips and travels, so why not have some pics of views from (or of) your Cali?

I agree, but feel we are both incredibly lucky. Because of him I hired a Cali then fell in love with this amazing mini penthouse mountain goat. It changed my life and has taken me on many a adventures never even dreamed. I feel we are merely enjoying the spoils of our mutual good fortune. What a lucky dog!
Yes always cook in the van and never had a problem with the gas.. so far. Coldest night this year was last night at the Col d'Izoard. It was blowing a sub zero gale but the sunset made me stay to see dawn. Pray tell what happens to a portapotti at high altitude?Brilliant trip Skewif. We did some of the high tarmac(ish) passes last year but that's definitely on the list.
Did you do any cooking up there? We tried on the Col de la Bonnette (8907ft) and Pico del Veteta (11053ft but the public can only get to 8503) last year and the gas with the normal CampingGaz bottle just refused to light. Bloody freezing up there overnight without a cuppa. Crisp bags up like balloons and an adventure with the PortaPotti.
Stunning! It is getting way colder fast this year and not so many opportunities for the nightscapes but still getting some.
Happy you like it! I am posting daily travel videos on ìnstagram with the same name Sp0_okStunning!

Well staying overnight at 8500ft and needed a wee before turning in. As you are no doubt aware the "dirty" bit of the PortaPotti is in the base and is sealed from the top bit by a slide which is pulled out before use.
Anyway, the slide wouldn't move so eventually I had both feet on the bog and both hands pulling on the slide. After some heaving there was an almighty bang and the slide opened. Fortunately I had cleaned it out during the day and the lid was down. Obviously the sealed bit was at higher pressure from the lower altitude when it was cleaned and with the low pressure at altitude the slide was forced against the seals stopping it moving. If it hadn't been clean and the lid down I reckon I'd still be cleaning the van now.
Did you cook at high altitude though?
Yes cook every day at high altitude without a problem. As the pressure differential between the stored gas and the atmosphere is greater at altitude all should work fine. Maybe you have a faulty regulator or the bottle of gas is just too cold. Worth searching for a thread on this not long ago where I seem to remember a new regulator solved the problem. Hope that helps.Did you cook at high altitude though?
The photographer just about managed to hide the old Hymer on the cliff edge. You can still see the front of it and the tv aerial! (Why watch tv with a view like that? )
