Hi,

Just noticed that the plastic flange on the water fill / power socket plug in is starting to detach from the body, anyone else experienced this?20160119_142021.jpg

This shows how it is attached.

Thanks for the diagram, looks like the stud that nut (32) attaches to has broken somehow, looks like this could be a fair bit of work to remedy as access is required from the inside to fit nuts, fortunately under warranty.

That happened to our van. The two front studs are plastic and bolted to the body with a self tapping nut. If this is over tightened on manufacture, the plastic will snap off the main molding and so the front moves away from the body.

This is a DIY job if you feel confident enough about it, but as your van is still under warranty, then let your dealer's technician scuff his knuckles.

Yes as Alan says it's easy enough to replace and he is also correct about over tightening the nuts on the plastic studs.
I have used this fitting on my last two self-builds as they are IMHO the nicest items for the job on the market in the UK. The 220v input socket is a VW item but there is a proprietary item available in the caravan parts retailers that fits perfectly. The lockable water filler top can also be obtained from similar sources although early Californias are slightly different.
