IMG_0507.JPG Having just collected our lovely low mileage T5 California (September 2013) we've been puzzling over these bits we found in a cupboard. Previous owner doesn't know!

Any ideas gratefully received.

There'll be a very nice T4 California for sale soon.

Thanks Hotel California for your quick response; couldn't really search the forum because we didn't know where to look.

How obvious things are when someone shows you what's what!

Yes, much loved T4 will have to go. Fiftieth Anniversary Event, new Continental tyres, brake discs and pads all 'round, new steering rack, cam belt kit, new valves, guides and lots of lovely accessories...once given permission, saw the T5 and just had to have it.

Hi 2020 freedom,

Didn't mean to ignore your request for more info, just been so busy buying and fitting 'Brandrup stuff' and other lovely things from the club shop!

September 2013, Sand Beige, BiTDI 180 SE fully loaded with loads of stuff I'm still trying to get to grips with. Two careful previous lady owners, with only 14,000 miles on the clock. Full main dealer service history, although there isn't much as such low mileage.

My brilliant local Independent VW van specialists have been all over it checking for corrosion and anything else which might need attention and have given it 10/10. Had a service and hydraulic oil change last week and having a new cam belt kit fitted next week as despite low mileage, there's always the deterioration factor, and my chaps want to be on the safe side.

It's a lovely immaculate bus which we purchased for a very reasonable price from very nice people.

VW have managed to keep ahead of me again as from '67 it's been a Spilt Screen Samba, a lovely old 'Bay Window' and our brilliant T4 California TD red 'I' 150hp flyer...we just decide to see out our 'bus years' with a nice T5, and along comes the T6!

Having said that, I can't imagine life without a VW bus. When I hang up me driving gloves I think I'll just have one parked on the drive anyway and just go and sit in it and have a beer, but lots of good roads yet in our new super bus!

Zennorboy,
I saw that California.
You have bought a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, condition California.
It was the best used one I saw to date by a country mile in both condition and spec for the asking price and i'm sure you negotiated too. It very nearly ended up on my drive but all things considered I have gone new.
Enjoy your van.

Hi Biker Gran

Am I a Cornishman...well, sort of.

All of my mum’s family are from Penwith (Penzance and Zennor) from the beginning of Parish Records and I have spent an enormous amount of time there over the last sixty years, mostly around St Ives. It’s where the heart is.

A career with Ordnance Survey (headquarters in Southampton) and my wife’s family being Southampton people, precluded any desire to move down west, but I just like to have some sort of connection, hence ‘zennorboy’ and the St Piran’s flag sticker on the back of the bus!

I lived on top of the cliffs at Porthcothan Bay when I was very young, Cornwall still has my heart.

Whose the VW specialist you use?

Found these bits in the drawer, can someone enlighten me on what they relate to?????

Hopefully you won't need it as most of the kit is missing, see post #1 above, for picture of full kit.
