Was looking for ideas to cook on cadac or bbq other than the normal burgers sausages etc (not that there is anything wrong with that) just looking for a change?

Last weekend I did a green Thai prawn curry in the cadac

Chop onions and green peppers
Add green Thai curry paste
Then add water chestnuts and bamboo shoots one tin of each
Then coconut milk
Simmer and stir for 15 mins

Then add prawns and fresh rice noodles
Simmer under noodles has loosened
Add half a lime and lemon juice
Serve feeds four :cheers

Sounds great we cooked a thai curry outside our van in February in the French alps, people walking past was telling us how nice it smells...cadac are fantastic for every trip no matter what time of year

Great thread idea ... I'm keen to get some other simply and tasty Cadac recipes.

Risotto is my current favourite Cadac meal:
  • An onion
  • Chopped mushrooms
  • Garlic
  • Any other finely chopped veg. Celery, peppers
  • Arborio rice
  • Chicken stock
Fry onion, mushrooms, garlic. Add rice and fry for a bit. Start adding chicken stock and continue for about 20 mins until rice is cooked.

I like to do a kedgeree in the cadac (as its outside)

Shakshuka for breadkfast

Nice if youre a vege or fancy something without meat.

We enjoy large mushrooms and peppers on the bbq. Just drizzle with oil.

Mrs 5i1ver8ack has recently tried fresh bread on the Cadac. Fairly successful, although burnt on the bottom (of the bread - not Mrs 5i1ver8ack). But she thinks she's sorted that problem now. Tasty though!

Super simple recipe takes 10 mins to prep and get going then just simmer until ready. Lovely even though I dont normally like aubergine.

We used a Omnia stove to bake bread, amazingly effective on any gas ring. Takes longer than normal and you have to keep an eye but works well. Better with a silicon insert.

That sounds amazing. And thanks for this thread! We really need up our cooking game. But tonight, we are having marinated chicken on the BBQ with a side of portobello mushroom and tenderstem broccoli with flaked almonds. Simple!
