I completely respect others views on this if your experience is different, but I can say that our Golden Retriever (29kg) sleeps very happily curled up in a soft bed between the bed and front seats. We have never considered it an issue at all.

Our spaniel also sleeps in a soft bed between. Bed and front seats. We also have portapotti and 8 year old asleep across front seats so snug but doable!
