I normally camp at Runswick Bay when I go to the Whitby area. I'm taking my six year old camping next week and we might try somewhere new. Any suggestions welcome please.

Fish and chips at the Magpie :) mmmmmm

There's a nice site right on the tops next to the Abbey, I stopped there a couple of years ago and it was really nice albeit a bit windy! Great pub and entertainment for the little ones - in season - I can't remember the name though - I'll have a google and see if I can find out :thumb

lol :talktothehand - Whitby Holiday Park - Saltwick Bay

Saltwich bay was cool - the kids loved exploring - looking for fossils and whitby jet.

There's a couple of wreckage's you can see at low tide too - its an interesting area!

We stayed here in Oct. lovely little site. A little way out of Whitby but the bus service is good. We thought the pub was going to be a let down when we first walked in but we had a couple of really good nights there. We didn't eat in the pub but the food looked great.

Thanks everyone for the tips :thumb

Robin Hoods Bay is lovely. The walk back up the hill from the beach will use up a bit of your six year old's energy too. We have only been there with our tent, but friends with a van stay there quite often as well.

Doesn't open until 18 March :( ... A week too late.
Daughter now wants to go to Robin Hoods Bay

Has anyone stayed here recently http://www.hookshousefarm.co.uk/camping.php

I stayed years ago in a tent. Great views unless you have a sea mist or wind. Not sure what the facilities are like now?

We stayed there about two years ago. The facilities were basic but immaculate (showers were built into portacabins) the owners were very friendly.

We had a great week at Hook Farm last year. Lovely spot, decent facilities, friendly and helpful staff.

Forget the magpie. That's where all the tourists go! Next door is much better.

Broadings Farm. We've just had a couple of nights up there. Lovely well organised site and a new shower block. Lashings of hot water, and hairdryers (20p). We stayed in the top field - nice and quiet and great views of the moors. Will def visit again. 1 mile from Whitby.
