I've camped a number of times at the base of ski hills in the Cali but we decided to push the experiment a bit further this time with a 4 and 6 year old in tow. Camped and skied for nearly a week and never had to sleep with the heater past setting 4 even despite -8c outside.

Wasn't sure how successful this was going to turn out so wanted to share - it was great though as we had good warm facilities access. So long as that aspect is sorted you're dialled.

Great! Engelberg is a lovely place to stay and ski! Thanks for sharing!

Did you stay at a campsite? If so what was the name?

Awesome.
Easy with just adults. But with kids, that’s some undertaking...!!!

Yes we stayed at Eienwaeldi which is only 5 min bus or drive from parking lot for Titlus. It's perfect for winter camping as they have a nice swimming pool and sauna (charge you extra though) and great warm showers and toilets. Also they have a huge warm storage area for our skis and boots plus drying lines for anything wet - we were also able to store car seats etc down there which helped managed space.

Aha, yes was going to ask what you did with the car seats. We had a six week summer trip with our two (5 and 7) and the car seats meant we had to take an awning for storage - which then meant we had less freedom to move around. Great post and inspiration to get out there in the winter!

Brilliant!
Titlis? Went there with my folks as a child and have very fond and amusing memories... also see you're not 4mo - excellent encouragement for us.
Well done.... have a two year old and three month old so. It just yt but very grateful thank you for sharing

Yes we know exactly what you mean. We only have 1 car seat, but it takes up so much room we had to buy a pop up awning.
No other choice at the moment and will need to put up with this setup for now, but do wish we didn’t need it like the good old days.

Occasionally we camp overnight without unpacking or putting up the awning or making the safari room.

One adult sleeps across the unmade 3 seat bench, one adult and two children sleep in the upper berth. The two child seats go on the driver's footwell and driver's seat. The dog goes in the front passenger footwell leaving the front passenger seat as living space.
