Hi

I have a 24-reg (4000 miles) California Ocean with Woodstock Alloys that appear to be badly pitted after just 8-months.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

I personally wouldn’t expect that in such a short time :(

Some “wash your car/van” places use a fairly aggressive acid to clean alloys - could this be the reason?

Hi
I wash it myself and I've only used Auto Glym (Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner).

Only used soft sponges and cloths.

That looks like baked on brake dust, try a non acid wheel cleaner

edit: try something like Valet pro Billbery or Dragons Breath , something that is non acidic and requires very little agitation

Until recently, I washed my 2012 California myself and the alloy wheels remained in good condition. After only 2 car washes, all 4 wheels began to deteriorate with the lacquer becoming discarded.

I believe this was due to the solvent in the wheel cleaning solution being too concentrated. It cost me £80 per wheel to have them reconditioned with new lacquer. I will now revert to washing my van myself.
