My husband and I have made a side table for our 2016 beach.
It saved us getting the big table out, and is handy for making a brew, putting your drink on or a lap top on to watch dvds.
It's made from aluminium with rounded corners and 2 cup holders for our ecoffee cups.
It fits perfectly in the table slot holder and does not slide about.
Easy to store in the back pocket of the front seats.
Not ideal for sitting on but it's fairly robust and my drink doesn't slide around on it very much.
Ideal for the kids to play a small board game in to.
I'm really pleased with the outcome.
I also make the VW cushion covers if you go to handmade in Haworth on face book.
What do you guys think to it?

Yes sure, you could also make it out of clear Perspex which we will be doing next. It's about 6mm thick and needs to be perfect fit for it to work and stay up
Let us know how you get on and some photos would be good

Thanks! I've been thinking of making something similar. Presumably it's just supported by the rail rather than any kind of leg? And it's just 6mm and with a rectangular profile?

Hi Stuart, yes our original plan was to make a leg or a support for it but when we put it in the rail it supported it really well, so we decided not to bother with one. Don't know how another form of material will work but the aluminium stays on really well as it's not slippy.

Not for me my wife would most likely catch it and i would most likely end up needing a new side panel.
Will continue to use the table!

It's probably not for everyone like most things but that flipping table is just to big to put a drink on You can't put your feet up with it in the way.
Thanks for your feedback though
this should be commercialised
that would be great. How do we go about that then?

With the mugs in place it's ideal for tiddly winks! :thumb

That table looks good, what holds in into the slot?
Whats under the stripy cover?
We bought two of the same fittings that are on the standard table in door from vw about £8 for a pack of 2 and fixed those on the underside so it slides backwards/ forwards to get in Box or make up bed.
The stripey thing is a bean bag poof we got for putting on front seat to get up to upper bed and putting your feet up when sitting downstairs.

Is the Beach table different to the Ocean's?

I believe they are the same material but the Ocean gets two, a sliding one that is fixed to the kitchen and another in the sliding door.

Would you happen to have the part number for those fittings? We have one broken one and want to replace it. TIA!

I'm keen to buy a couple too so the part number would be great :)

Sorry for late reply I am not at home at the moment but will let you know the code when I get home if nobody else comes up with it beforehand as there are a few threads on here about them.

This is the code for the fitting that clips into rail on underside of beach table V7E7 898 209 cost approx £8 per pair. When you order make sure you tell them ONE PAIR cuz some of the parts depts think they should order 2 then they get 2 PAIRS

Hi, does that part number include the plastic part that screws to the underside of the table?

Hi no it doesn't, its just the prongs with the plastic bit that fixes into the rail, sorry i have not seen a ref for the part that fixes to the bottom of the table, we had to make our own, I would be interested as well if anybody knows it.

Looks nice and v practical. I'd be interested in something similar that fits the sliding table slot on the Ocean. Also a smaller version to put on the end of the kitchen unit for when the passenger seat is rotated. I could envisage a whole range of such clip in accessories.

these are definitely the clips. they charged me 8 quid each for them . there's 2 in the pack but the packet says 1 on it. maybe they put 2 in 1 pack for postage. ring a vw commercial parts place and quote that number and the name 'retainer'. then I asked if they could post them and they did. took card number over the phone. if interested in used jct600 Sheffield vw commercial.

here is what they clip to. now then I'm not sure if that's for a full table leg or if that bit is separate. not got that far yet. it appears I have an ocean table in my beach and I too am trying to clip it to the rails

Hi. I like your idea of the bean bag for getting to top bed.
