Hi picking up our new baby next week, have been quoted by Saga for the ocean. They appear to be reasonable, has anyone had any dealings? TIA.

I used Comfort Insurance. (ask for Club Discount)

Caravan and Motorhome Club, formerly the Caravan Club. You will get New for Old in the first 2 years.

Don't take no for an answer if the agent tells you the discount is already applied.
Thank you all. Hubbys decided to go with saga, for this year. We had a car insurance with Saga, which had not run its full term, so have a discount from them. What concerned us was the inconsistent info they gave when we got the quote for 'Westley' Bit long winded but basically was he a campervan or a motorhome, he is an Ocean which they count as a motorhome. So all seem ok now.

Different companies have different definitions. Some count the Beach as a car because it has no fixed cooking facility. Glad you're sorted. Enjoy your new lifestyle. :cheers

I have an Admiral multicar policy and added the Ocean we picked up to it only last week.

Admiral charged me £114 for social, domestic pleasure and commuting fully comp, with 10,000 miles a year. That’s for about 200 days cover (to the next anniversary when my multicar policy fully renews).

Obviously insurance will depend on age, where you live, occupation, number of cars on policy vs named drivers using them etc.

Yes, we have used Saga for several years. Our car is with them too. They are not the cheapest but they do include as much time in Europe as you might need (we use a lot). Two years ago they also paid up £10k+ for repairs to our van, without quibble, after we were tail-ended in a multiple shunt on a motorway and pushed forward onto the vehicle in front. We had stopped just in time, but the vehicle behind us didn't and the driver disappeared without giving his details while I was helping the injured driver of one of the other vehicles. I had taken a photo of the vehicle that I thought had hit us, but that turned out to be the wrong one. All eventually sorted out, following the police report, but meanwhile Saga had come up trumps and paid for the repair. In my experience Saga are willing to negotiate about the premium. A courteous enquiry and a chat has resulted in a lower price several times.

I hope you enjoy your Cali. Ours is now in its 13th year on the road since we bought it new and has done 108k miles. It is still great to drive - almost no rattles or squeaks - and had been reliable for all of that time. We have just replaced the clutch (probably our fault that it was needed). We needed a new CPU early on and the high tail-light cover fell off soon afterwards (as they did at the time). Various sensors have needed replacement recently. We have used the Cali Forum expertise to replace the CPU knob and the table-leg, and the Cali shop for external chair spare parts. But the original leisure batteries still hold charge well enough to power the fridge for 4 days and overall, considering its age, it has been remarkably trouble-free. It is comfortable to live in for two people and, with the seats turned around and the bed upstairs, it gives more living space than many bigger motorhomes. We have been very satisfied customers and I hope you will be too!
