California Beach Heritage Red Edition

Yes you certainly are going for it.....
When are you taking off the beach sticker ?

You are a man on a mission Gazelllio - i hope you will soon be a satisfied man and ready to let the kids and dogs climb all over it x

You have to appreciate I bought a demonstrator with 60 miles on the clock for £41000 with a VW list including options of nearly £52000. That gives me room to add the bits I "Would Have" spec'd" and still be about £5000 quids in. Also the Park (Air) Heating is £600 cheaper than factory option and I have the control by the bed. The LED DRL lights are 75% cheaper than the factory option.

I want a Beach, just a heated good looking beach with lights that actually light the road. :)

I drove to Austria with the Wife, Two teenage Kids and a large (Boxer) Dog at Christmas in snow/ice/grit etc. Its getting used as a daily driver from next month as well...

That's quite a saving! Most people seem to get 10% to 15% discount so well done on that. For the avoidance of doubt though, and for the benefit of future readers, your new lights are not LEDs or equivalent to the factory units you're comparing the price to. You (will) have LED DRLs only, with the main lighting provided by a "150% style" H7 bulb.

On your reply to my earlier question about "VW approved",

"Hi Gary, no no warranty issues at all. In fact we are currently in talks with some local VW commercial dealers about supplying them."

...that's not "VW Approved" and if those discussions come off with those dealers it'll be a "Dealer Accessory", not a VW Approved modification (there's a big difference!).

Looking forward to seeing them fitted with the Cali grille as the top strip lifts the front end.

I have factory xenon/LED DRL's as mine van was a demo. The headlights are absolutely superb and whilst I wouldn't have ticked that box if buying new, they very welcome in a cold dark Yorkshire! IU am dreading having to replace one though..........

Well I have had them fitted and I am VERY pleased. Yes of course they are LED DRLs and an H7 and an H1 150 "Xenon White" effect. (labelled) The bonnet shuts as normal not touching. Will be testing in the Dark tonight (and photos) but even in daylight they look MUCH MUCH brighter.

things done. :thumb
Whats next on the list.

They look very nice and it doesn't matter what other people think just so long as you're happy with the result :thumb

THURSDAY: Webasto Air Heater with Factory Grilles/Vents and 7-Day Timer (by Bed) with additional Temp Sensor if I want it but the fitter says in his experience its not essential as after a few minutes the air is recycled into the intake so warm air is drawn down. He think a 2 degree difference initially but leveling off when warm. Anyway I will decide and probably (although no extra cost) will do without the extra hole in the van plastics.

Thanks for that appreciated.

I don't understand those that offer criticism of owners modification decisions. Just do what you like with YOUR OWN van and comment if you like other peoples choices.

Great updates exactly as YOU want! Any more updates re the vangear pod?

Not yet I would actually like to take my new Campingaz Bistro 300 down to them and see how they could incorporate it....

I think we will! That is a great little stove, we have used ours for a few years now. We use that along with a safari chef 2.

i can’t tell the difference between factory LED all and your new upgrade tbh. I’m assuming the main difference is the light emitted as the road in front of me always looks blue?! I’ll be looking with a keen eye now on T6s with these on, will be hard to spot the difference.
Keep the updates coming. It’s very interesting and has insipired me on a few things for mine.
I’d definitely suggest lowering it though. 30mm:thumb:thumb

It handles very well with little roll and I am used to Land Rover Range Rover and Discovery 4 Air Suspension. Unless you attack roundabouts whats the gain?

By the way the light in front of me is more white than yelliw as it was before but not blue and much brighter. Iverall very pleased.
