We haven't tried sleeping downstairs in our 3 seat beach yet but as things stand it doesn't look like a very comfortable option so we are thinking of getting a mattress. We'd really appreciate any views on what others have found the best option. brandrup v Comfortz?
I'm sure I read somewhere that one of them is contoured to fit over the lumps and bumps - or did I imagine that!

Thanks

We've tried an Ikea mattress topper (£60) for 10 weeks of nearly consecutive nights, and have upgraded to Brandrup (€500) and have now been sleeping on that for ~26 weeks of more or less consecutive nights.

Verdict - for occasional use the Ikea mattress topper is fine. For prolonged use Brandrup is imperfect (you still feel the lumps and bumps of the seat below) but is better than Ikea.

Just bought a Dunhelm teddy memory foam topper. 5 cm deep. Made a big difference. £45 for single

I use an Outwell double blowup mattress it was £120 but fits perfect and I’d very comfortable

Which size fits? Or rather how well does the single fit. Would the double be too big?

Purchased a sheet of good quality foam from eBay. But it in a cover and sorted . Total cost 65 pounds. I dumped the expensive vw topper as it was next to useless. F

It doesn’t go to edges, about 4 inches each side. I camp alone so ok. It’s quite supple so a double would curl up the sides but may be annoying at door/cupboard.

We use the Aerobed Platinum Double. Fits really well, incredibly strong, and firmness can be adjusted while you're in bed! Irons out all the contours of the seat below it and even with my dodgy back it's really comfortable. It also packs up really small.
It does need you to be on hook up (or use an invertor) but I think they also do a 12v version too.

I've recently purchased an IKEA topper (memory foam £145), the standard king is 200 x 150 so nearly perfect and can't feel the seats bumps and lumps.

I just get drunk. then I sleep fine on the floor. ha. just kidding. or am I? anyway to be honest I have a roof topper and even in winter with the heater on low upstairs is best.

Am I right to assume that the mattress options for a 2 seater Beach are considerably easier... given the flatter shape of the seats when folded ?

Yes, but don't think that means we all agree on the preferred solution!

Depends on your definition of a decent size! Compared to some mattress toppers yes. It’s never going to be as small as something inflatable though. I roll it up into a 2 1/2ftx1ft(ish) tube and put some ties around it.
