New T6.1 order delays

Hi well another milestone has been reached today. I am now in transit to the port yay!!!

The build took 23 days rather than the quoted up to 2 weeks but it's finally finished and on its way.

Todays estimate is 3 days to get to Emden ( not sure how slow that transporter is going as its only 158 miles) then sit for 7-10 working days at the port. Then the slow boat to the UK 2-3 days.

That gives me a chance of it arriving in the UK in April, however on the basis of actual rather than the VW forecasts i will add 50% to each stage and should have it by late May.

You’ve inspired me to check. Mine is still at the port and hasn’t been allocated a ship. It’s been there a week now. Hopefully it will be on the move soon

I just spoke with Beth on VW chat. We were build week 10 W/C 8th March. We are now at build stage 5/8 apparently. She advised me that there was an unplanned closure for 2 weeks. We are 4-5 weeks away from delivery still - so much for getting it in time for my Wife’s 40th on Saturday.

I have had every excuse under the sun from VW but it boils down to .....nobody knows!!! .. I think there is one person in VW who pulls the numbers out of a hat every day a bit like bingo..and It’s made worse because VW will no longer let dealers self collect from UK ports as they used to due to COVID......also there a financial penalty if a dealer is given special permission by the fact that on your order there an amount for delivery from port to dealer. If the dealer collects, usually on a low loader ( which is not cheap) VW still charge the delivery cost....so me and you pay twice....a great plan by VW for recovering extra profit
Might be worth getting them to check the required by date on SLI?

Thanks Tom. What is the SLI? VW Chat said the dealer should specify an earlier required by date. When I asked Eurovans in Crawley they said they just put 'asap' on them all...!

The sli number to the dealer is the order number. VW have automatically putting in required by dates in as the end of the year for some reason so they will never get delivered from port. So they need to physically amend the required by date in the system to give it a transport order this will happen when the van is in the Uk.

I must stress this isn’t affecting the order only affecting delivering from uk port to the dealer just to try an make it as clear as I can.

Tim - can i ask when you ordered with Eurovans? How are you finding their comms?

Tom - good for you for being an actual VW dealer on here and answering questions as best you can. I know someone was upset with something on another post but you answered that well and I know covid has really messed up a lot of the normal work, so your doing great in my mind. Here comes the billion pound question??? I ordered on 5th Dec 2020 expected delivery date was yesterday. 204 4 motion SP - what would be your best bet on actually seeing it this year? Any month would be good...thanks

Hi Dean
I ordered 8 October. Their proactive comms are non-existent. When I I call they are cheerful but seem to know nothing. Latest today when I emailed:
“According to the VW ‘hit list’ yes, still on for an April build Tim.”
I can’t do anything except take it at face value, but I’d put a weeks wages on at 2/1 that I don’t hear from them in April...

Hi Dean
Thanks for the kind words!
I personally believe it’s good to have people on here from the dealer network to try and give customers an insight into what information the dealers have. Don’t get me wrong I’m not perfect.
But answering your question I have vehicles that I ordered in December that are on for build in may at the moment but that could still all change.

Bloody frustrating, hit list? Give me a break. So you ordered two months before me....I wont see mine anytime soon I think. I'd prefer for someone to say its not coming until December. At least my holidays and time spent booked away could be cancelled and find something else to do. Thanks though. Maybe we will both collect at the same time. Now that would be funny.

Agree. Someone centrally from VW Germany should also look at these posts. Appreciate the reply. Maybe I'll service my van at yours...

Hi Dean, did your dealer give you a "queue number" for want of a better description? Our Coast that was ordered in November was supposedly 213 in the queue and although VW chat change their mind with every enquiry, our dealer insists that our build "month" is April. We shall see!

I am in pain sector 3...1 is for a build week.....2 is completion .....3 is sat at Emden awning shipping..(it has been there for 3 weeks).....4 is how long it sits in the UK port .....5 is punching crowds being given a date for collection...........I will update progress when it is shipped.

Did you get that in writing? When I was looking at placing a new order end Nov/early December I was being told June as the earliest date.

My order was accepted by the factory exactly 6 months ago and I’m no further forward in understanding when I might see the vehicle. I was order No.53 in the queue but suspect that was badly affected by the 2 week shut and hence no update.

Either that or the contents of the sport pack and possibly the navy bellows are on back order and impacting the build - but that’s me wildly speculating out of boredom and frustration!

Whoever gave that 4 month delivery window was having a laugh. I ordered a 199/204 4Mo in mid Nov and was told at that time 10-12 month delivery. I don't expect to see it until Sept at the very earliest

says it on the purchase invoice and was in an email when I put the deposit down. Just wondering if i put all the van purchases up in the loft again now.

I went for the same. at this rate we might as well jump on the 7.0 waiting list....

Dean, my order went in August 19th, couple of email confirmations from dealer. Dealer really at arms length until early December. Most my info came from VW Chat (info ahead of dealer)

So, it seems like my 204 4Mo has made it to the dealer after a couple of weeks at Sheerness - so will find out the details tomorrow I guess. Hopeful of finally getting my hands on it early next week....
Hi Swello.
Just to help me know when l might get our 204 4Mo ordered at the end of Sept, what build week were you given ?
