Hey there chaps - wondering if anyone can help.

Just looking at driving into Bath this weekend and also London next weekend.

I put my Vehicle Reg into the system (2013 SE 180 4Motion BMT) and it says I am liable for the charge in Bath.

My friend put his vehicle reg in (2011 SE 180) and he has no charge - even though it's an older vehicle. I also put in the reg of my previous Cali (2014 SE BMT) and that also doesn't get charged.

The only difference I can see is the 4Motion - Anyone else experience this strange anomaly?

2014 180 4Motion, no charge for Bath, only London.

Thanks WG - all very strange.

When you say London - which bit are you being charged for? I am fine in the LEZ, but not the ULEZ. My friend (2011 Cali) is exempt for both, and only gets charged in the Congestion Charge

"Private cars and motorbikes are not charged in Bath’s CAZ, regardless of emissions."

Is yours registered as other than a "private car"?

Think it was ULEZ.

Just checked ULEZ and Conjestion Charge zone, for London.

Hi there, unfortunately don't have the log book to hand, but I'm assuming it will be the same as all other California SEs. When I type the Reg into the Bath Caz vehicle checker it says 'Van' and California BMT' etc - but it says exactly the same for my friend's Cali (which is exempt).

This is timely! I'm having a right spat with Birmingham CAZ.

They state my 2016 Beach is to be charged and not Euro6; They assert burdon of proof is on me, I have to provide DVLA with the proof of conformity from manufacturer (at my cost), instigate and change DVLA records, replace my V5c and then they will consider it!
In the meantime I must pay charges and claim back if they are wrong.

My response is a) you are wrong (provides copy of V5 extract) and if you charge me and are proven to be wrong I expect the accrued interest as this is how HM Gov act with my taxes. b) My V5 is correct, the emissions values stated all comply with Euro 6 standards and the ULEZ doesn't charge me for this reason and also uses DVLA records - If my vehicle isn't Euro 6, registered 03/2016 and my V5 is wrong it is a) illegal and thus I am driving it potentially uninsured which are both not true so it is for you and DVLA to correct the links, why would I replace a perfectly correct V5.. Two tit for tat responses the first where they state my V5 is not sufficient proof and they a stand by their position ...and they now say 'we are looking into it'

So there are issues it would appear. The V5 doesn't state Euro 6 or otherwise (certainly not mine) just the emissions values.

I did note it stated 110kw net power which made me check the ratio of PS to Kw...

May be worth checking compliance with Brum as it is clearly different to ULEZ London, they are not linked or coordinated and have different DVLA records but I think the same standards for entry.

Just checked my 2016 150 DSG Beach on the gov.uk checker and no charges for Bath, Brum or Portsmouth (starts this month).
Thanks for this - in Bath, I would assume that 2016 onwards should be fine as they are Euro6.

My query concerns inconstancies surrounding T5.1s (all Euro 5 engines)

As 5i1ver8ack mentioned before - Bath ONLY charges commercial vehicles (I think Brum is different again!), so my private vehicle should be fine (as any other T5.1 Calis seem to indicate). For some reason mine appears to be unique.

Does your V5 make reference to Euro6? I know mine is and exempt but it is somehow wrong on the Brum website...
I will check when I get home.
What does the gov.UK site day about yours?
Have you appealed the charge?
I Subject Access Request if the council is always a good start - what have they got on their register under your Cali? (Sad, I know, but just reading the relevant CAZ Order!)
Also an FOI asking for their procedure to identify chargeable and non-chargeable vehicles and how they double check the criteria when challenged.

Bath doesn't require Euro 6 - simply private car. I've just entered the details of my (very) old Land Rover Discovery diesel - definitely not Euro 6, and it shows as no charge.

I've not been charged thankfully as I took the Mini, but it erked me so went into battle!

Uk Gov site says
Portsmouth no charge, Bath no charge, Birmingham charge.

V5 extract. Its Mar 2016, Euro 6 and running adblue. One of the reasons I bought it!

Extract from gov website

Minimum emission standards

Each vehicle type has a minimum emission standard. You can find your vehicle’s emission standard in your vehicle logbook or from your vehicle manufacturer.

To avoid being charged in a Clean Air Zone, your vehicle must meet the following minimum standard:

Vehicle typeClean Air Zone minimum standard
Buses, coaches, heavy goods vehiclesEuro VI
Vans, minibuses, taxis, private hire vehicles, carsEuro 6 (diesel) and Euro 4 (petrol)
MotorcyclesEuro 3

Mine has some different figures...

It says it's Green
Mine was registered 9/2016 T6 Beach, 2-seater 150 DSG.

So the only zone that charges private cars has decided the euro6 Cali Beach has to pay…. Hmmmm

2014, 180 4Motion. Euro 5

You should have the following details on your V5c

M1

Diesel Car

Body Type - Motor Caravan.

In which case Euro standards don't apply. London ULEZ is EURO 6 for ALL vehicles.

Yes have those. London states no charge for my Beach. Birmingham is clearly wrong as I pointed out to them! Let’s see what they say when they have investigated:)

Mine does show ‘blue’ not green but the same apart from that. Criteria states Euro 6

DSG Vs manual same year the DSG has higher emissions as quoted (Tiny at 167 Vs 175) . seems like a totally fun minefield!
