This is my second California... bought on standard suspension whereas my previous was on 30mm factory lowering springs. The stock suspension is terrible and frankly I could. not live with it. Plus the rear sag. Whilst I've already done this you might ask why I'm posting... Simple, I could not find any reference to the choice I made. The Solow (read Transport HQ) NXT plus is a 35mm to 65mm lowering kit with adjustable damping at the rear. I also (because I'm vain and bit showy!) upgraded to 20" rims at the same time. I went to The Van Cave in South Petherton that happens to be a couple of miles up the road from me. Discussed my research and ideas. He concurred and explained that it would stop all my issues, slam sag hollow et al. Quite simple I could not be happier with the result. Lower by 55mm which I'm informed is the sweet spot within the range, stiffer with no slam or sag and ride quality is superb. As they all claim - it's like driving a car. I hope this thread helps anyone with the same issues searching for an answer...
Oh and the rims are perfect - the design is essentially 5 VWs I'm sure not the intension. but love them.
