Hey all. Since I had wind deflectors fitted the other day my window has a life of its own: I pull switch back and it goes up then down halfway, then this repeats until I do micro taps on the switch. My T5.1 transporter did this occasionally but it’s worse on my T6.1 Cali. Any ideas why and how to fix greatly appreciated

The window motor is sensing a trap condition (ie it thinks a person or object is in the window opening). At the point where it backs off, check the seal is not tight, either out of place or the wind deflectors are putting a force on the the window channel, causing the window to slow down.

As the window moves up automatically it looks at the speed of the window movement vs what it expects, if there is a blockage or tightness in the seal channel it will detect that as a block.

In channel or stick on Deflectors?

Thanks for replies. They are in-channel ones - local dealership fitted them.

Check that they are fitted correctly, the same each side
.Spray some silicone spray into the channel all away around. Close the window for 24 hrs then try.

Was camping up top last night when I awoke the passenger side window was open all the way down! I was on camping mode. I obviously didn’t notice the draft as the aux heater was on all night. Very alarming

Have you tried resetting the windows?

//
Fully Lower the Window: Press and hold the window button down until the window is fully lowered.

Hold Down: Keep pressing the button down for a few seconds after the window reaches the bottom.

Fully Raise the Window: Press and hold the button up until the window is fully raised.

Hold Up: Keep pressing the button up for a few seconds after the window reaches the top.

Repeat for All Windows: If multiple windows are affected, repeat these steps for each window you want to reset.

Test: After completing the reset, test the one-touch function to ensure it is working properl

Amazing - I will give this a go and report back :)

Sorry to say doesn’t solve it. As soon as it gets to the top it comes back down to halfway. I removed the wind deflector before trying this

If the window is trying the automatic up (one shot), then it is calibrated. The system is sensing a trap condition and backing off.

So, if you can get hold of 5 maybe 6 store/bank cards. Open the window all the way down and then run the pack of store/bank cards in the window channel push it in as far as you can, focus on the area that backs off, just work your way around the window channel. Start with 5 cards thickness worth and then maybe 6 if you can't find a tight spot.
