Leak - help

All in. So not sure they’re going to deal although haven’t finally said that yet. They think it’s rear light. I’m not 100% sure as 1) we don’t get it all the time when it’s raining (and it’s rained a lot recently without leaking, 2) We’ve had it recently it when it hasn’t been raining and 3) the leak it only ever coming from the left hand side of the tailgate. Never on the right. Although we have water coming from our rear wash, I’m wondering if it’s related to this as this is routed to the left. Any views on further ways to diagnose. Is it easy to pop the trims off to have a look?
Mine appears to be on the left side as well. I have dried everything out and just tested with the rear windscreen wash running, which appears to be the issue; water is running out of the bottom seam of the tailgate, on the far left hand side. And I've check that it's not water running off the rear windscreen.

Faulty workmanship or materials! It's not accessible and cannot be a result of user error = warranty

Agree. Surely should now be covered by the warranty. I’ll try the same diagnosis and definitely go back to VW if confirmed same as you.

Hi. HNY.
No progress. Xmas and cold weather getting in the way. Plan to do the test this weekend and go back to VW after that.
What about you?

I did some testing during the dry weather and I’ve determined that the water is most likely coming from the rear wiper wash.

I’m going to ask my VW dealer to take a look at when it goes in for an oil change in the next few weeks [still 2.3k miles until that’s needed].

In the meantime, I’ve removed the 4 small bungs which were inserted in the bottom edge of the tailgate so any water will run out.

I've got the "All-In" extended warranty and after discovering a small leak in the passenger footwell I took it to VW earlier this week; the good news is they found and fixed the problem, the bad news is the warranty didn't cover it.

I paid £115 for the "Initial Diagnostic Investigation", no other costs incurred as they fixed it during the investigation.

When I went in to collect the Cali, they service desk explained that the warranty doesn't cover water ingress of any kind.

What was the fix ?

If it was faulty what was the cause ?

The dealer managed to fix it under the "investigation fee", so assume no parts required ?

how do they know it was not covered under warranty?

The issue was a dislodged grommet under the scuttle panel.

The fix was simply refit the grommet, so no new parts needed.

The service manager at VW told me that the warranty does not cover any kind of water ingress.

VW Van center Manchester. We have the van back as we needed it over Xmas. No fix yet. I’m gonna chuck in a load of screen wash and see if I smell it.
my money is on the 3rd brake light breaking apart. don't be tempted with aftermarket ones. they are shite.they dont seal or sit properly. been down that route and ended up buying a genuine one from vw.
