“Beast from the East” winter forecast prep?

Put in the 10 tog quilt and polar tech fleece blanket.
Ditch the cereal and have toast for breakfast instead.
Take out the G & T, put in the cup a soup.
Take out beach gear and replace with wellies for muddy loo dashes.
Make sure Pucer topper in.
Try and remember to take warmer pyjamas, cardigan and fleece!

I just love these long range forecasts ...

We all remember the "BBQ Summer" followed by the "Big Freeze" winter, which proved to be almost warmer and definitely drier than the BBQ summer....

Even 24 hours can be hit and miss .... I still have less than fond memories of hearing about a deep low moving to the North of Shetland which may bring some strong gusts to NW Scotland ..... then staggering out of the am fuaran pub north of Ullapool with Catriona, the landlady, driving me to Albert and showing me where to park up sheltered for the night, three hours before Stornoway recorded gusts in excess of 90MPH......o_O:shocked:Nailbiting

To be honest, I can't wait to have a proper winter again.
Temperatures not exceeding -1°C. for a couple of weeks.
Snow on the side of the roads.
Being able to use my snow and mud tyres what they are meant for...

We'll see. It might just be another wet, not that cold, lousy winter again.

Our van will probably be used more during winter than in summer.
We wild camped in the highlands for a week in our old T4. No heating in it.
Layer up your clothing, keep moving and you’ll be fine
