Hello Everyone! I hope you're having a lovely day, well better than mine
I own a 2015 T5.1 California with the 2.0 BiTDI CFCA engine. It has the 03l115512C EGR installed so i expect some terrible news also.
In general i've had no engine issues over the last 4 years of ownership until the van went to VW garage for a standard service three weeks ago (replacement of filters and oil etc and 4 motion oil change).
My services and all services berfore have been carried out by VW directly.
During the service they told me there was an "oil leak", but had no time for investigation.... Thanks VW
I asked for an appointment, but they didn't have anything available for four weeks.
Therefore I took the van to an authorised VAG garage who noted the CrankShaft oil seal had failed. They refitted a new one and all the associated timing belts etc.
After a day, an engine warning light appeared, the yellow glow plug symbol; which i checked with my Carrista ODBC reader. It read "Turbo B 'under boost' in performance" and set the car to limp mode.
I used my reader to clear the error.
The error returned on the next drive and car went in to Limp mode again, though the error cleared itself after turning off the van and restarting.
After this it came back two more times but always cleared itself after restart.
The next day I checked all the pipes going to the n75 valve for turbo B, cleaned it with pressurised air and refitted it.
All seems to be ok and the error didn't return.
I took the van for a test drive for 150 km all seemed ok. (Went up to around 130 kph on the autobahn for sustainable checking) and no issue.
We were just about to drive to England for new year's eve and mostly to appease my wife I have the ADAC (AA/RAC equivalent) some out and take a look before we under took the long journey.
They didn't find any issues recored in the ECU, but noted there was oil on the underside of the van. This was especially odd as the work to fit the oil seal included a full cleaning underneath.
We didn't take the van in the end , but yesterday I took the van back to the VAG Garage and they say pressure from the engine means a failed engine and must be replaced.
This seems pretty crazy to me, anyone have any advice what to do now?
I can't really afford a full engine replacement atm, post christmas and other life expenses.
Should I get a second opinion?
Anyone else had similar issues or had a CFCA 2.0 bitdi engine replaced/overhauled?
Any suggestions for middle germany?
A bit stuck and sad.
Charles
