Would access be easier if the two bench seats were arranged to face one another?

It might be, BUT the integral safety of the seat and seat belts could be compromised as it will be fitted in a position it was not designed for nor tested in.

7 for us too. Integrated child seats. Will be main commute car, child taxi and occasional van and 5 seat home on selected weekends. A lot more flexible than large booted 7 seaters i was looking at.
