A battery powered bright light to read by

Recommendations anyone? For when you don't want to use the van's lights. For use upstairs in bed and lounging around downstairs, so it would be great if the light could be self supporting. We had one called "daffodil". Nice name and pretty good. Cheap too - but not very well built and it's just broken again after a couple of attempts at fixing.

Coupled with a 4Ah battery it'll go for about 12 hours. Not pretty but I've seen operating theatres with lower light levels.
The heads swivels so you can arrange it however you want.

I use a headlamp. Small, lightweight, adjustable(brightness and angle) and doesn't get knocked over.

Not battery powered but I use one of these from ikea, usb connector so can be used with a 12v adapter or via mains (we have usb multi plug adapter) or in my slidepod. Gets used at home more than in the van but very handy.

I just use one of these with a steel disc stuck to the roof, upstairs, at the rear.

Sticks or hangs in the awning as well and also on the underside of the roof locker where I have another disk stuck, so a torch always at hand.

IKEA do a solar powered light - see link - http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/sunnan/sunnan.html Have used them when camping over the years and they work well. Charge them by leaving the battery panel on the dashboard. After a while the rechargeable batteries lose their power but it is possible to remove and recharge them from mains or to replace them.
