Learnt a big lesson today. Travelled down to Cornwall for a few days to enjoy the weather, Pentewan sands site, been here a few times before, great location, nice site, amenities etc. But oh dear, noisy noisy kids, shouting, screaming and two remote controlled cars going up and down all evening. Aaaaahhhhh adults only in future.

Tried to, but as i said lesson learnt, probably too old fashioned nowadays for anyone to have respect for others. RC cars, skate boards, shouting etc, just waiting for the drones to turn up. If that’s what people want ok. Just not for me.

Indeed, it’s not what we go away for. Sadly Pentewan is a prime school holiday site, your probably better off looking for smaller sites without the likes of a pool etc that attract the families with children during these peak school holiday times.

That will be the plan in the future, will come again avoiding school holidays.

Aaaaahhhh adultos apenas no futuro.
Vivemos tempos conturbados.

We did Sandringham last year in the holidays. Was a little like this but we have a one year old and accepted it. Other people are allowed to have a holiday too. You just need to pick your time and site more wisely. The Friday was worst. Like Lord of the Flies. They calmed down a bit the next day. Sugar and excitement.

That said. We had a tent 20m away playing swingball at 10pm every night. I waited till they went to sleep and removed the ball with my pocket knife. Nice and peaceful the following night.

I can't help you re the noise (or the weather which of course was best last week :() but if you want a good meal in a nice pub you could do worse than The Standard Inn just 15 miles down the road in Portscatho :thumb.

The pub also run The Hidden Hut on Porthcurnick beach which has a good rep (I haven't been there myself).

I'm sure you know all the local haunts but if you don't know these two they are well worth a visit.

Enjoy your week :thumb

An interesting situation.

We have kids. They are (in my very subjective opininion) well behaved. We choose however, to avoid camp sites that are visited by lots of families. We prefer the smaller, greener camp sites where (in theory) there is 'nothing to do'. And a certain type of kid would be bored straight away.

Why? It's not that kids can't behave themselves, it's that some can't. Just like (and as a result of) some adults that (should) raise them. And most of the adults who can't behave themselves or those who have kids that can't, prefer sites where there is a lot of activities and entertainment for those kids. So parents feel they have time to themselves, but this sometimes results in nuisance for others. Not a good thing. Also, camp site owners who earn money from families with kids, sometimes tend to allow too much. They should set (reasonable) rules and uphold them.

When I see 'adults only' camp sites I always a get a bit annoyed on the one hand. (adult only sounds like a strange camp site, btw :)). Because it so specifically excludes kids, when many kids you will hardly notice and there's a lot of annoying adults as well. But on the other hand I get it, because many camp sites with families/kids are sites I wouldn't want to stay either.

I guess, as with all things, its nuanced. You have well behaved kids and not so well behaved kids. And you have parents who try to keep their kids from being a nuisance to others and parents who don't so much. And then there's adults without kids who can be just fine or not so well behaved. And site owners who try to create a place that is enjoyable for all or who favour one type of guest.

Choose your sites wisely :)

Please don’t get me wrong, I have a family of ‘three children’ and seven grandchildren, they were brought up with manners and respect like I was. Just seems now the new generation can do what they like and the parents don’t give a #£&*. In many cases the parents are more obnoxious. But there you go if that’s the way it is, crack on and enjoy yourselves. I’ll try and find somewhere that better suits me.

I sort of questioned ‘adult’s only’ sites, but it now makes sense. Similar to ‘no dogs’

There is no doubt that the breakdown of the traditional nuclear family in the West in recent decades, combined with increasing secularity has led to far fewer children being taught respect and discipline.
