We've added a USB socket to the van to keep a few things charged when we are away. Here's how we did it:

Nice job Dan. I am also looking to install couple of USB sockets in my 2009 Cali and have ordered a couple of USB connectors off eBay.

I am hoping I can fit them into the spare blanking plates in the dash, so I no longer have to use the Cigarette Lighter in the drinks holder.

Very neat and simple. I like it - thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I have a similar plan for the cab, although haven't decided whether to add new sockets or just replace the ciggy socket - they are a bit more accessible on the T4.

Nicely done!

We simply bought a small two-USB-slot adapter that snugly fits into any 12V outlet, with or without the cigarette-lighter spring. Has the same effect, doesn't need any wiring etc, and can simply be taken out if we want to use a regular 12V plug in the outlet.

That's exactly what we did works excellent.. couple of quid and your done, no mods, warranty worry's and gives you the weekend free to go camping

this is the version we bought, we charge both our phones with at the same time no worries, also our iPad and my sons 3DS

We got ours from a Chinese ebay seller for a couple quid

I think our warranty may have expired, so not too fussed about that...

Those little ciggy lighter USB plugs are good, we use them in the cab area at the moment, but we don't have any of those sockets in the living space.

The only issue I have with those ciggy sockets is that on ours they have a habit of coming loose, more down to our rattly old 2.4D and soviet era suspension than a problem with the sockets
