Just in case people have asked for all season tyres...

I've just been contacted by my VW dealer to say that:

"I have just been advised today by the VW office that the all weather/ALL SEASON tyre option is not available/with drawn . This shouldn't of been in the brochure/price list, it is only available on the Beach Model".

I've asked to find out what it does come with.

Did they give a reason? We've found them to a good option so far, to save changing tyres / wheels for the sake of one ski trip a year.

I don't believe it was an option on the T5 with the cascavals wheel option.

However the first and now our currently Cali has this option. It was also itemised on the vehicle receipt (I didn't pay for it though)

Unfortunately not skinnywhippet. I'm trying to find out what tyres will be fitted. I had an Audi Q5 delivered in December a few years back with summer tyres. Remember the bad snow in 2010...that's what we had to drive in. Needless to say the Q5 failed.

I suspect it will be some fuel efficiency nonsense that they have to fit efficient tyres?! There is no law preventing manufacturers fitting summer tyres in the winter in the UK.

The dealer has now removed them from the order pjm-84 to prevent the order getting rejected at the factory and losing my place in the build queue

Our 2015 Cali with Cascavels came with all season tyres.

I'm hoping that as it's been removed as an option they will be fitted as standard. We'll see what emerges. Can you get low rolling resistance all season tyres? If yes, how do they perform in winter?

I was hoping to avoid having to swap tyres but I live rurally and the roads get bad.

I have just queried the absence of that option.

It's a bit like putting slicks on a land rover to put summer tyres on a 4WD :headbang

Let me know how you get on please GrannyJen. The dealer has said it will come with 'a pretty decent tread pattern' but I've no intention of risking it. Who knows it might not be delivered this winter anyway?!

Tyres you need to buy at a tyrescenter not at VW ....they just rip you off....
Just buy a set of winters on steels and change them when wintertimes comes allong.

and before then?

Mine have M'n'S on for summer use, my winter's don't go on until November, and yesterday if I had summer slicks on I would still be trying to get off a mudflat, white knuckle stuff as it was with one of the fastest tides in the UK on the turn and coming towards me :shocked

In the UK weather is diffrent then here in Belgium , agree ...
But stil think winters work better than all seasons and a GOOD tyre the rest of the year...no slicks!

I have been categorically assured that all season tyres are available to specify on the Ocean,

Unfortunately those Michelin CrossClimate tyres don't come in a load rating for the California.

which dealer was that please?

I have been informed today that ... '. The California does not come with seasonal tyres and is only available with the standard specification option'.

This was from the Executive Customer Relations Manager at VW Commercial.

Looks like some dealers are giving out incorrect information
