Alternative to a camp site?

If they can offer a fully fitted room for £19 per night why are we having to pay so much more for space to park four wheels? After all 8,5sq meters is about what we need to park a camper and we bring all our services with us.

Because they are on multiple floors.

Pain in the arse to drive the Cali up a set of hotel floors.... not that I have ever tried :shocked

Brilliant.

But, as Conrad Hilton said..... Location, location, location.

and...

someone has slept in it before me :( Alfie is mine.
Well, you could still sleep in Alfie! ;)

I don’t think these would be the sort of places we would choose as a destination, more a place to stay on our way to our favourite spots.

Many camp sites are in very nondescript places; a wet field at the side of the road with no attractions nearby etc. How often have you stayed at a site and couldn’t get away quickly enough?

These are the sort of pods would be ideal for airport hotels, where you just need a no frills sleepover.

I normally only stop on camp sites when I know I'm going to be there for more than a few days, so generally the answer is not a lot. In fact, since my time with a Cali, never in a camp site where I felt the urge to get away apart from Belgium where being harassed by two drunk English idiots spoilt my day - well, night.

My last few trips when I have stopped on campsites? Well, currently at the CAMC Wirral country park and it's superb. We arrived here from Luxsall, Hereford, an outstanding site in an outstandingly beautiful location. Neither site have two of us, two dogs, two habitation vehicles paid more than £20 a night.

My Previous trip to this one, a couple of weeks ago saw me at CCC Teversal, CAMC Knaresborough and CAMC Ferry meadows, each of those sites with great facilities and in beautiful locations.

Someone mentioned a pod hotel going up in Cardiff? Apart from small pitches and dated facilities can it compete with the location of Pontcanna fields, Cardiff?

Sorry, even if I paid double, give me my own bedroom and my own space every time.

currently at the CAMC Wirral country park
What a coincidence, we must have been yards apart yesterday, we cycled the Wirral Way to Thurstaston and had lunch in the cafe there (long wait!!). If we’d known we’d have come to yours for lunch!:D

Goodness!

You would have been both welcome.

We would not have been in though. Was visiting Mum 60 miles away in Saddleworth.
