Kochel is a lovely quiet lakeside town in Southern Bavaria, about 15 miles from the Austrian border - due south of Munich. Garmisch, Oberammergau, Munich and Innsbruck are all in easy reach. The town has shops, supermarket, hotels, restaurants, filling station, etc., and the lake is great for water-sports.

A short trip over the Kesselbahn, which is a twisty (main road) drive with some wonderful views over the mountain to nearby Lake Walchensee, plus a trip on the cable-car up to Herzogstand (mountain) shouldn't be missed. We can highly recommend Kochel and Camping Kesselberg as a destination.
