As above really

My Cali is insured for me and other half only, my daughter and her family would like to borrow it but obviously will require cover.

I thought that this sort of cover was readily available but it would appear not, I’ve tried to add her to my policy but they won’t add any drivers under 30! ( daughter and hubby are 26 & 27 respectively)

Can anyone who has arranged similar cover provide any suggestions

Many thanks

can they not add it temporarily to their own car insurance - assuming they have a policy?

Possible ?

Thanks guys

Andyinluton have you done this before? If so can you confirm who the insurer was?

Welsh gas

Actually tried them today, but they declined as soon as I keyed in the Reg no, as it said it was a “Transporter shuttle 9 seat”

I’ve checked my V5 and it says “ Transporter Calif SE 174” and clearly states it’s a “motorcaravan”

If I use a Reg number borrowed off a Cali for sale it accepts it, so it suggests they will insure a Cali, but my van is coming up as a shuttle

I’ve suggested that daughter gives them a ring tomorrow and see if she can get to the bottom of it

But still interested in any other suggestions

I’m with NFU and have never had a problem adding an extra car temporarily to the same policy - they have always said yes to a month of cover.

Turns out she’s already tried her own insurer and “they can’t put a motor home on a car policy”

I think part of the problem is the “computer says no” type of insurers, at least with NFU you speak to a person

Try some of the specialist where you can speak to a person.
A plan, Adrian Flux, just campers, CCC et at el

Everything is insurable, the problem is, as you say,the numpty on the end of the computer, “compooter says Nooooo”.

An underwriter will insurer anything, at a cost. Ask your current insurer to refer the scenario to the underwriter
