Awning crank stowage

You can get a mobile trim repairer to fill those holes, don’t worry - you won’t even know they were there. (They’re used to filling in holes in dashboards where phone mounts etc have been screwed) or use this kind of thing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8mm-x-4...Masking-Finishing-Inserts-White-/221925765410

What about the same clips mounted along the front of the rear bench kickboard just above the upward hinging drawer doors and just below where the fabric stops?

Same (good) idea but different (lower) place and just as accessible. I can see why you’ve done this, mine drives me nuts.

In my dreams I invent a solution which gets sold in the club shop and I retire. Then I wake up, realise even if the other 27 Beach owners in the world splashed out I’d still have to go to work. (Sigh as I place crank handle back on boot floor)

Good idea Kev, you should know the next question where did you get the brackets from :)

Not on beach you don’t ! I keep mine in the rear camping seat stowage in a padded bag, my mum made (I love my mum) not much use if you have bike on the tail gate unless you have an altera bike rack !

I’ve ordered some components and I’m going to try to convert my awning to electric - powered from the leisure battery.

You could use an electric power tool?

We keep ours between the top bed and the roof. Doesn’t seem to move around and accessible with the roof down if you make sure it’s placed right before lowering the roof

previous owner of my Beach opened the roof hatch a short way and dropped placed the handle inside the lip of the metal on the roof if that makes sense. No rattles, out of the way and easy to grab. I have seen no reason to change that idea.

12v to 36v step up converter and a 36v electric scooter motor. They should arrive on Tuesday.

Holy Moly, if I tried this I just know my awning would end up 17 pitches away. Obviously I’m now thinking of all the things I could attach a 36v scooter motor to.

I do like this forum, lots of good ideas and different views. The first thing on my mind when I saw handle fixed to the ceiling was certainly not “what would happen in a wreck?” When the bus was new I thought about fixing it, as has been suggested, above the draws on the bench seat. First I didn’t want to drill holes, then I couldn’t find suitable clips. Since almost a year now, it lives here:

Just snug enough that is doesn’t rattle, or slide, or interfere with the seat or passengers and is in easy reach no matter what the load. In the boot it occupies the dead spot between the multiflex leg and the side trim. I think this is the permanent home.

Power awning you say..?? That will be cool!

Could it be clipped in the sliding door behind the picnic table??

You’d be better going steam powered, using the steam from your 12v kettle ;)

I Have mine in a cut bike inner tube stored in the tailgate seat storage compartment

I think this discussion relates to Beaches with 3 seats in the back. On a 2 seat Beach the tool is stowed in the under seat drawer.

That’s exactly what I was describing, stored in between the seats stowed in the tail gate !
