Bad time to buy?

Just jump! The waters’ fine once you get your shoulders under. You cannot live your life worried about post 2030 or any other year. I’ve just bought a brand new T7. Had aT6.1 Conversion and way prefer this over the one for a variety of reasons and not least that you get SO much now, 5 years servicing, 1st year road tax, warranty, MOT, 5 years road side. As for storage, you’re camping, leaving the home life behind. See phot here, THIS is why I do it!IMG_9320.jpeg Don’t take it all with you, just the important bits or just buy a Winnebago…..Governments are flipping left right and centre on what to do with ICE vs EV. EV has been proven to be way more harmful to the environment in the long run due to the lack of prep of where to put the batteries, the grids are all melting point etc. others have put I way better than me.

WTF have we become?
Well, it's all gone a bit political! Amazon / GLS / DPD are all diesel here but DHL Deutsche Post are EV.

We have become what the majority voted for!

Sidepod, would you swap the KTM for something e-Moto? FWIW I bought a T6.1 diesel April 2025 ... and the ZZR1100 won't be sold anytime soon.

Just to be clear, you’re suggesting getting rid of a two stroke in favour of an EV………..?

I had to get divorced to afford my California beach (every cloud and that), I could have been mortgage free or own a van, after another close friend passed away I was reminded that life is precious and short so live life... so now I have a mortage and every time I climb in my van I have a smile on my face... I see it as 'cheap therapy'.

Get the van, stop worrying about the resale value you may not live that long... get into nature and enjoy the ride!

Ha. Tbf those Stark MX bikes do look fun.

Love it “I don’t care how it’s changed I’m only here for the horse power”.

Does look interesting.

A very belated thank you to you all for taking the time to reply to my post. I think we’re going to blow the budget , re-mortgage and go for a Multivan Ocean. I saw one and it said ‘buy me’

You wont regret it, we did the same 3 months back and love it, drive is perfect and so comfortable for the two of us camping. Best thing we've done in years.
Hi There,

Sorry, I forgot to ask, which engine did you go for? I've gone for the TDI. Also, are there any optional extras you wished you'd gone for and didn't? Is that your van in the photo? The blue/white? If so that's the colour we've gone for. Looks very smart. Thanks, appreciate any advice you're happy to share.

We went for diesel haven't had a diesel vehicle for over 10 years so was very apprehensive, but I shouldn't have worried it's so smooth and the right amount of power plus consistently returns 40 - 43mpg so we are really pleased so far.

We have most options so not sure if anything was left off apart from the suspension upgrade or whatever the driving/steering option was??

Yes that's our wee cali in blue & white in the thumbnail it's a bonny colour combo.

My best advice is to order your rainbow screen cover asap as I'm still waiting after 10 weeks. And topper mattress for downstairs to make it extra comfy.

We've gone diesel for our soon to be delivered beach as well for the first time in quite a few years of abandoning it for petrol. I'm taking the view that it'll likely be worth more post the ban given people will still want a very long range cruiser in a campervan.

What's the rainbow cover you mention?

This is the rainbow screen cover:

I don’t think you can second guess what the market will do in 10 years time. And with a range in excess of 600 miles for a diesel you won’t need to find a fuel station very often.

I’m intrigued by the comment higher up this thread saying that T4s and T5s depreciate better than newer vans. I would have thought they would be affected by LEZ restrictions an that the T6 which is not would be more attractive. Maybe not ‍♂️.

I guess it depends where people are / where they mainly go.
There's no / very little need for ULEZ compliant vehicle in Cornwall / Devon / Somerset etc :)

My Original T5.1 (140 Manual) from 2015, nearly 11 years old has just sold for 39K, cost 46K. Not bad going for 11 years of fun.

Out of interest, what mileage had it done? I’m thinking I may have underestimated the value of mine for insurance.

I don't know but it would be below average. I sold it at 5years old with about 24k. The second owner has just sold it, tiptop condition but I don't know the mileage.
