I own the Weber Go anywhere. It's a great BBQ, it's small, but let's be honest, even that takes up half of the room in the back of the Cali ;-).
I look at it this way: either I am in a country where I can't have an open fire/coal bbq and then I'm miserable ;-) or,... I'm in a country where I can and then this is my choice:
Looks simple, but the design is brilliant. 2 small vertical sticks that screw together to make 1 stick, that you stick in the ground. The grate is attached to the horizontal thingy and the horizontal thingy goes over the stick. You can easily adjust the hight of the grate by squeezing the horizontal thingy. Doesn't get hot. Just make a huge cave man-style fire or small effective one and your done. The grate can go up and down or swings left or right to allow for less heat or more heat. And it takes up exactly zero space in the van.
