Big favour - anyone in Poole who could help us view a 2008 Cali?

Just a mention on warranty. I once bought a car and was offered a warranty for x pounds. I didn't take it and then amazingly got it thrown in.
I later realised that what was actually the case was that the dealer was trying to insure his legal consumer rights at my expense. Hence him giving it for free.

There were some models taxed higher back then.

Got the info from parkers online. It states a 174 tip auto of that age falls into the £500+ bracket. Must be wrong though

Its £245 i have one of this age.
Engine is the 5 cyc Audi engine, built to last. Doesn't have a cambelt, chain driven.
I would buy it and give it a good run out, by that i mean several hundred miles.
Check fridge works, as mentioned roof bellows and control unit above head, also check heater works

Just so you know I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying the auto 174 is in the higher tax bracket to the manual so £500+.
Hi should be taxed as a p l g vehicle think it's £245.00 for the year.

That's a nice looking Beach but we want an Ocean/SE. Here's the one we're investigating:

I viewed it last September when it was up for £32k. It is reasonable condition. Everything camping wise worked. Didnt test drive it as it is auto and wanted manual (spotted it driving past). It has been sat around though.

The dealer is reputable but doesn't know these vehicles as they specialise in premium German cars.

Get some more off and it is good value.

Mine's 2007 auto 174 SE and the tax is £245 (I've just double checked)
Pity I only just saw this as I'm not far from Poole and may have been some help.

If the OP doesn't buy this and would like to contact me feel free!

We purchased a 2008 2.5 Cali auto privately last December, two owners and 36k miles with FVWSH. All the bells n whistles fitted. We've done 4K miles since and are absolutely over the moon with it. Ireland for two weeks special, together with many long weekends. Has changed our lives, even the teenagers want to accompany us coz it's COOL ENJOY!!!!

You guys were brilliant - thank you so much for your advice and help. Other half (Sad) and I have put down our deposit and cannot wait! Big thanks to Max-Felix for your time and investigation. Can't wait to bore you all with the next lot of questions! So grateful for such a great forum.

Not all that much knowledge as I've only had mine 14 months but I'm totally in love with it! You're 30-odd miles from me but we could always meet somewhere in the middle.............

I think you did absolutely brilliantly and the value for money you have got there is unbeatable! Great to speak to Chris and I only wish I had seen it a couple of weeks ago as it is a superb example and I would have bought it myself! The good old five pot 2.5's with Tiptronic is an unbeatable combination. Torque is the same as the much newfangled twin turbo in the T5.1/T6. Been driving out today and it just wafts alongs with so much ommph low down.

How was the colour in the flesh? This seemed to be the only reason given by Graham at Poole as to why they had trouble shifting it. Looked pretty innocuous to me. :)

We liked the colour, reminds us of Yoda!

It's certainly not offensive, and green has always been my favourite anyway...

Sure it looks more greeny in some lights but it's quite neutral. It wouldn't be my colour of choice (I'd want red or yellow) but it's not offensive. And actually when we took it out for a test drive we were stopped by a family who said how much they liked the colour. So that reassured me.

Good for you, glad to hear it went well. Have fun!

Congratulations on the purchase. Enjoy.
Mine is same year and colour... We were worried about the colour when we first got it (like you, only one available at time for a good price), however, tinted windows and side bars make it look better and actually it looks more grey than green most of the time (probably due to it being cloudy all the time :) )
We are based in Dorset and I have seen another green one near Wareham a few times so there is at least 3 of us in Dorset!!!

Ours is a 2009 178, 2.5 auto bought a few months ago. One owner FVWSH, oil changed every year, 39K miles. Really enjoying it. Hope you have as much fun!

I like the colour. It's one of a few Cali's that hides the dirt / doesn't soak up the sun, but has a colour (vs silver and grey which are very practical but lack 'colour').

@Sad
Thanks for sending me the link to this thread, it sounds like you grabbed yourself a bargain.
I can't actually see the details as the normans link is now dead but as it has the vote of other recent buyers I have an age, condition and price bench mark assuming it swallowed your budget?

Travel far you will, the force is strong with this van..mmm?
