"Bike Porn"-your rides and how/where you use them

Re:

Ps... I do like your other rides ...:)
I'm looking at sks blades for my Klein for winter are they any good ???? Also needing tyres that will fit :-([/quote]

I've fitted the XL race blades on the cotic, they fit quite good and don't require any fiddling once set up but I personally think the front guard is a bit short at the front, which I'm finding you get quite a bit of spray blowing up from top of the tyre when it's hammering down which could be more of an issue for you with drop bars and leaning over.
XL's are suitable for tyres in the 25-32 range, standard blades are good up to a 23 width tyre.
Without eyelets for fitting 'proper guards' they ain't much else plus the raceblades look better than full guards, it's all about fashion.

Looks like blades it is then for the Klein and a road tyre with a little more wet weather grip..

"Bike Porn"-your rides and how/where you use them

Your right TOTF there's some sweet rides coming out of the woodwork ..it would be nice to see more and I know alot of Cali owners have bikes ,as most seem to have bike racks ... Lol lol...
I must admit getting a 3rd party site to re-size every photo takes effort and I would add more photos in general if easier ....:) or am I lazy or even doing something wrong ...!!!lol

Re: "Bike Porn"-your rides and how/where you use them

Had a good sportive at the weekend .. Thanks Alex and his local pro cycling team for dragging me along ...the wind was cruel and more accents than descents ,but we did ok in the end ... Lol lol

Think that was one of the toughest I have done. Very enjoyable and good to get out and stretch the legs a bit!

cheers

Yes that was a tough ride. No real rest at any points with all the ‘undulations’ and that wind made it even harder. Good to get out and ride a new area and put names & faces together. Even got to see Lee's famous Klein :D
Having the Cali as a base to return to is great, perfect for getting changed in and then making some soup and re-heat a beef stew to replenish energy levels. Legs must have been quite tired as the return trip was mostly on cruise control + 65mph and got me over 41mpg. :thumb

Was good to meet you, would have stayed longer but had to slope off and lie on my sofa for the evening to recover slowly :D

that's what I did when I got home, fell asleep to the F1 replay.

I got home and managed to stay awake for the whole race. Just.

Agreed, a Cali is a GREAT cycle vehicle! However there's no way I'm sticking to 65 and 41mpg on the way home. Over 30mpg and I'm pleased… :headbang

Re: "Bike Porn"-your rides and how/where you use them

Yeap ... The Cali is a great bike base and can be classed as T5.1 porn or Cali porn having bike porn on or in it ....:) lol

Spent the weekend in North Wales, found a lovely little spot away from everyone.Rode both the ranger and llenberis tracks on Snowdon. Not the best pic of the bike or the van,but you get the feel.Brilliant days ride, always nice to come back to the van, kettle on an reflect. As stated before a perfect base for biking.Well perfect for almost everything!

Blimey, I found climbing around Snowdon fairly taxing let alone cycling!

Ah,but if you think about it,cycling twice up and down Snowdon is liking walking up and down once …..
Reason you ask why??Well the two downhills are flat out peddling letting the mountain help you down…Just hate having to break means i have to pedal again!!!!
Walking down you have to use your legs to keep you upright and to slow you down.

Thats my logic anyway.

Is that crib croch you on there?

Yes indeed! I went with a very experienced climber (I'm not!) who took me up a very precise route. At one point we did a large "step" - my pulse went a bit mad! I usually don't scare too easily but I was a bit nervous at the top of that.

This is the look of sheer relief that I didn't fall off (I'm aware that I'm as photogenic as a dog turd…)

I should have the new Beast soon ,so i'll get a photo posted when i can ..... :thumb

I can see a lot of cali's have bike racks ,but they must be just for show or just used as washing lines and talking points ...
Come on guys show us your bikes...!!!!!
:bananadance :upsidedown :bananadance

I should hopefully have my new wheels in the next week or so. There was a delay in shipping them so have waited for nearly a month now.

Looking forward to seeing yours in the flesh Lee!

cheers

last fitting this weekend alex ,so i should be able to bring home that day ...

It's a pain about your wheels alex ,but i'm sure you'll be loving the difference when you get them on :)
you going to be running them tubeless straight away ..?????

Absolutely. Although I will be using the other bike in the next week or two due to weather so will only get 1 or 2 rides on them this year and then the odd one when the roads are bone dry.

cheers

   .....i hear you alex.....not sure the litespeed will be getting much tarmac time this year ...i'm the same maybe a dry cold day ,but otherwise the klein will be bashing it out in the wet n cold weather .... :smile

my wheels are bontrager tubless/clinchers as well ,but running standard bonti clinchers for now... need to look at maybe some mudguard blades for the klein and letting a little pressure out of the tyres for winter ......that's as winter as I can get the old girl ...

Which tyres are you going to try? Schwalbe Ulteremo ZX seem to get reasonable reviews. No lighter than std clincher+tube but lower rolling resistance apparently.

I've not really looked at any myself Owen , so sticking to my bonti clinchers for now .. Not sure which ones Alex is going for and want to see if the pro's outstrip the con's ,as in the clincher vs tub's battle ...
