Is the VW bike rack painted silver or is it ‘raw’ aluminium?

I have a few light scratches in the bike rack and wondering whether these can be removed with some wet and dry paper - if raw aluminium, then scratches should rub out easily

Actually its anodised, if you sand it, it will expose untreated aluminium which will then being to corrode(tarnish).
