Hi folks, ive just bought a 2011 california se, and very nice it is too.
now then, re the radio and blue tooth, i cant seem to get it to do anything
so beginning to think that the previous owner didn't spec it, though
why you would pay so much for a van and scrimp on hands free baffles me.
so was wondering how to find out which stereo i have.
it is factory fit vw, the steering wheel has a telephone button, on the radio
if i go through the menu i can turn on bt, but cant find how to do a bt search
and when i search for bt devices on my phone nothing is found.
if it's not specced can it be retro fitted if so at what cost?
if not, what is the next best option? will the likes of the parrot bt gismo work.
cheers, paul.

I think i searched for the VW with my phone and then typed the code it sent.
If i recall correctly the vw didnt find my phone.

Edit.
Might have been the other way around. Try both anyway.

When you say turn on BT on the radio, is that via a telephone button?

Perhaps you could post a picture of the head unit.

A phone symbol on the steering wheel doesn't mean it has BT fitted.

The OEM kit can be retrofitted for not too bad money.

hi, thanks for the reply's, sorry no picture bu i believe the head uni is a rcd 310,
s their any way of finding out if th bt option is fitted?

You could ask a dealer to check the PR codes for you, in fact you could check yourself. In the service book and stuck to the base of the drivers seat is a sticker with lots of alpha numerics. Look for one something like 9W7. There are also some websites where you can type all of them in and it will tell you what you have fitted.

hi stu, many thanks for the reply, very interesting.
i typed in all the codes and there was no mention of any type of stereo
so i guessing that the blu tooth function was not specced from new.
there was mention of the california comfort pack???
also sure ive got hill assist but again not on pr code list.
Paul.

Depending on the year of your cali it probably has hill hold fitted as standard. As far as i know it is nolonger an option. Easy to take it for a drive & find a hill for a quick test.

Good stuff - this was my first vehicle with it and I was pleasantly surprised when I realised I had it - would've been a shame if it was discontinued.

It took me several months to realise I had it I thought my brakes were sticking through lack of use :laugh2 :laugh2
