Broken handle of back seat

The plastic handle of the back seat of my T5 from 2005 is broken - the handle to put down the seat to make a bed. The VW garage has informed me, that this handle is no longer produced. My handy mechanic has made a temporary one, but it not working properly. Have anybody experienced the same? Any ideas of solutions?

Is it Part 26 on the enclosed Parts drawing?
