Feel sure somebody asked this already but I cant find it ...

Does anybody recommend or recommend against a vehicle cover for when the vehicle is not in regular use? I don't have a garage and during the winter the vehicle will stand for several weeks. Is a breathable cover a worthwhile investment? Or is it going to to rub the paintwork and damage it?

Any thoughts appreciated including recommendations.

Thanks.

Interesting.

The Pro Tec cover is undoubtedly superior but at considerable cost (less than a Cali though!)

I too had seen the one on eBay made by JK and wondered if it would be ok. And yes, the awning is not going to help the fit of that design to a best fit. Maybe worth a call to them.

Not just sure whether it is worth the trouble or not....

If you are serious about a cover then protec are superb. Kept my Cali totally dry through all of the rain and snow last winter.
I also have an awning. No problem.

Another vote for the Protec Cover. :thumb

Before we got the Protec cover, when storing our Cali outside over the winter, we found that dirt, then mud, and eventually even green mould built up on the roof. It forms between the side awning and roof and around the pop up seals. These junctions form a great traps for water and dirt to collect and end up giving you a unpleasant cleaning job to do in the spring. :headbang

I purchased a Pro Tec cover 2 years ago for my California, they even allow for the awning, folding mirrors and VW bike rack when constructing the cover. I have to say it still looks fantastic, expensive yes, but you get what you pay for.

Hi all,
I'm just having a fitted cover made at Specialised Covers for £309 delivered.
It's made from waterproof but a breathable material.
They're on 01943 864646.

I hope this helps,
Mike.

I spent awhile looking for a cover that would fit my Cali with a fitted awning and the standard electric mirrors. JK said theirs wouldn't fit over the awning which was a shame as it looked just what I wanted. I bought a Maypole one off Amazon for £80 but it doesn't have the zip opening for the sliding door. However, you can get in from the zip opening for the drivers door. It's been on almost a month now and I'm pleased with it. I was getting green mould on it around the door windows when it was on the drive and having to wash it. Although it has a soft material, my only concern is if it will rub the paint work. Happy to provide photo's if anyone is interested.

i too am considering which to buy,

want a good one of course but they are so expensive

I fitted my cover yesterday.
It fits very well and has already had a proper battering.
Even at £350 I'm pleased. Compared to the price of your California,it's nothing.
