So Heart breaking so sorry for you guysSadness has descended upon our home. Our beloved Thandi is in end stage liver failure. She went off her food 3 weeks ago, but was otherwise quite well until a few days ago. Today we’re saying our tear filled goodbyes.
If the lurgy ever lets us go camping again, I will miss waking in the morning pinned up against the side by a spread eagle Labrador who snuck onto the bed during the night.
I figured those who venture onto this thread will understand.
We have had so many great trips in the Cali over the years and no doubt in time they’ll become fond memories.View attachment 68794

Rupert, our 11 week Cockerpoo, will be having trips out in the camper van when he has finished wrecking the house
When we first got our Barney he was tinkling all over the carpets! On our first trip we took our vax and shampoo to clean up his “accidents”. But he was brilliant. Because we were all so close it was easy to keep an eye on him. It was a turning point as we could praise him every time he went to the door.View attachment 68847

Thanks for the kind words. They are like family and yes, not everyone understands. We got Thandi before our girls came along, so they’ve not known a time without her. She was so amazing with them.So sorry ,we lost our boxer dog Alfie in may it was the hardest time ever people don’t understand the impact a dog can have on you and your family. But things do get better but you will never forget the time you had which is so short.

So sorry that Buddy didn’t get to enjoy Cali trips, I’m sure you are making the most of having Brindle boy around. Enjoy him.Very very sweet. I feel your pain.
I went through a whole range of emotions, which I've never experienced before, and it does heal with time. I've lost family pets in the past but the grief when we lost Buddy was .................... It was the reason we bought the Cali for in the first place but he passed away a few weeks before it arrived.
Feeling the pain with you. I lost Dottie this summer and she too went to sleep for the final time on her favourite sofa...the back seat of my van.Sadness has descended upon our home. Thank you. It still feels unreal. I’m sure you would still prefer a disrupted night!Feeling the pain with you. I lost Dottie this summer and she too went to sleep for the final time on her favourite sofa...the back seat of my van.
They become so much a part of all our happy memories....she will always be there with you in your heart. I miss Dottie at nights too...she used to get up in the dark, climb onto the bed, sat on my feet and and stared out the window at the rabbits! I now get a better sleep...but nothing replaces each little character that follows us around wherever they can.
Take care.
So sorry for your loss. We’ve just bought our first California. We can’t wait to take our 3 Labrador’s and this has inspired us more. The older ones are nearly 11 and sooner rather than later is essential for us to take them on holiday.Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. Yes, a truly beautiful girl. She was 12 in June. Still a puppy at heart though. All so sudden. I’m not ready for this.
Thanks for your thoughts. Congratulations on getting your Cali. Your labs will love it. We have a rough collie too and plenty of space to spare. I think 3 big dogs will fit perfectly. They work out their own sleeping arrangements. Roxy sleeps in the passenger footwell and Thandi used to sleep curled up on the passenger seat. But she’d sneak onto our bed as soon as she knew we were awake . I do hope that things will get better so that you get to have plenty of trips with yours. Take lots of photos of them.So sorry for your loss. We’ve just bought our first California. We can’t wait to take our 3 Labrador’s and this has inspired us more. Your girl was absolutely beautiful.
That’s a brilliant pic. Timing is everything.Alfie and Jack have and evening cuddle after a long long walk.
