Our boy is getting on now but still loves a good mountain walk, sometimes struggles getting back in the van after a long one

Sadly my little travel mate left us yesterday, will really miss him.
So very sorry for your loss, we are sure you have zillions of memories of happy adventures with him, hopefully in time you will be able to recall these with a smile.

Oh that’s so sad. Our thoughts are with you. Everyone on here understands the magnitude of your loss. The happy moments you had with him will in time become happy memories even though it doesn’t feel like that now. RIP to another special Cali Dog.

Hi Joker, great looking Labs....I have 2 labs and will hopefully be taking delivery of our new Cali in mid April. I would be really interested to know the best way you have found to transport your 2 dogs. We have thought of both behind the bench seat and in front on the gap but will decide when we get the vehicle. However as you clearly will have tried all sorts what way have you found to be the best both for the dogs safety and keeping the inside of the camper as clean as possible.
Any suggestions from others who have 2 large dogs would also be welcome.

Our 2 Beagles travel on the rear seat in Ruff Wear harnesses attached securely to the seat belts.
They also have baskets on the floor, if they choose to use the baskets they are then attached via the harnesses to the rings in the Cali floor.
Mostly they prefer the seat as there is much less vibration for them than the baskets on the floor.

This is the best way for labs. Keep an eye on the bikes for you. Only joking. When travelling as a family, Cedric is on the floor behind driver seat and Roxy (rough collie) between the seats. I don’t think that trying to keep your Cali clean with two labs should be a priority. For that, best would be a cage. 50505254-BF88-4937-8F83-51A412DC78CC.jpeg

It’s worth investing in a good quality harness for the safety aspect. Also remember that you have sleeping arrangements to consider when you get your Cali. If your labs are anything like our Thandi was, mornings will be quite cosy....

Our girls sleep there unless we stay somewhere for more than a few days and put up the awning. Cedric hasn’t had a sleepover in the Cali yet. Lockdown puppy. So it will be interesting to see where he’ll sleep

Barney wants to know, “where does the sheep sleep?”
