Hello all,
Our California has developed a central locking problem and after spending hours looking at forum posts and YouTube videos, I am none the wiser. It would be great to get some straightforward advice on where to look for the fault(s) and possible fixes.

Fault symptoms:
No central locking at all and no soft close of the side door.

Findings:
no warning or slow development of the fault
neither key actuates the central locking - so the keys neither lock or open the car when pressing remote lock/unlock
the driver's door control switch does not work to either open or lock the van
the key when inserted into the driver's door does not actuate the central locking
the soft close of the side door does not work (manual side door with soft close that draws the rear aspect of the side door into place)
fuses are intact
battery/power supply is healthy

Many thanks in advance,
Andy.

What fault codes are in the vehicle?

Hi TripleBee, sorry for the delayed reply...
We have not had it plugged in so no codes available. I suppose we should but I feel that it is something simple to put right.
Thanks,
Andy.

My experience of VW platform cars is that the cause almost all faults can be localised by running an error code scan with VCDS or similar. They log most things in relation to central electrics / convenience and trying to work it out without the codes can be a hunt in the dark.

Good luck
David.

To be short, without fault codes:

fuse of comfort computer (address 46)
comfort computer itself
earth or 12V cable to the comfort computer broken or loose.

Or something else, but nothing I can relate to without fault codes.
