California = 2nd Lowest Depreciating Vehicle

Thats a shame.

The cats gonna be out of the bag soon.

article in Auto Express puts the Cali as the second least depreciating vehicle.
I suppose it depends on if you measure depreciation in £££s or percent.

"with an average selling price of £55,174, but at least you'll hold on to 61 per cent of its value, losing only £21,514 after three years. "

If my £9,500 Skoda Citigo lost "only" £21,514 over 60,000 miles / three years I'd be pretty depressed.

Figures are a bit dubious. My 2006 Cali is now 14 years old and is worth more than that 61% of it’s price when new, and there is no ‘classic’ premium attached to it.

(The 61% is the retained value claimed in the link, after 3 years for a Cali).

try do the same calculation with the Aventador !!

The real test of depreciation is what happens between years 5 and 10, does it level or does it race to the bottom. Panamera will race to the bottom. Lotus owners on here will enjoy less depreciation than a cali owner as time goes on. A porsche 718 is reckoned a bit of a dud by many and loses more cash than the 981 that preceeded it.
Thing is doing this sum across the whole band width doesnt compute eg a GT 911 still fetches more than list at 3 years old. So to be consistent all T6,s including vans should be included but they are not.
I bought my 911 GTS from a main dealer at 5 years old and sold it 18 months later to a dealer for more than I paid for it. They still hold the money now.
If its mainstream volume your stuffed, a fundamental is that demand has to outstrip supply and that means limited numbers.

Porsche and a California.
Seems the perfect recipe. But some of us already know that...;)

I suspect the Cali holds more than the Porsche in reality. Try selling an expensive car privately. Most want / need dealer finance. It‘s a comparative walk in the park selling a Cali privately so you don‘t get hit for the dealer margin. You’re talking £5K - £10K on a £50K+ Porsche.

Yeah, I don’t know why we're feeling smug about losing 7 grand a year.

This has just prompted me to spec my van from March 2016 on the VW configurator...£74,902!!!

I paid £60,037 for my T6 Ocean 4Motion in 2016.

That is nuts

In the process of looking for a 981 but can't help but be tempted by the 718 but I'm going to resist!

Really, a 4 blower over a naturally aspirated 6...?
Honestly don’t even think about the 718, it’s a complete disappointment...

I know, but I only said tempted! And, I want the "loud" button.

Dont. I had 981 spyder and they loaned me a 718 at the last service. What were they thinking of, fast but otherwise an awful mill. New 718 GTS is now a 6 pot I wonder why. I would have one of those in a flash.

I couldn’t understand their thinking when the 718 was released.
Who pays £65k for a 4 pot...???

Madness.
Great to see the sixes return. GTS would be my choice.

Well it does depend on how long you keep a vehicle, Our T4 Caravelle seems to be increasing in value as the supply of T4 in good condition dries up; cost us £17500 in2003 and seems to be worth £5K now.
